2+2 to review accomplishments, lay down next steps for Indian-US global cooperation: official

Washington, Oct 24 (PTI) The 2+2 India-US ministerial in New Delhi next week would review the accomplishments and lay down the next steps for the global cooperation between the two largest democracies in the world, a senior Trump administration official has said.

The last major diplomatic engagement of the Trump administration days before the November 3 presidential election, the two-day meeting, involving four top cabinet ministers from India and the US, is expected to lay the foundation for the next four years of this relationship irrespective of who comes to power.

India: Pakistan to remain in 'grey' list of FATF till Feb 2021

New Delhi, Oct 23 (PTI) Pakistan will remain in FATF's 'grey' list till February 2021 as it has failed to fulfil six key obligations of the global money laundering and terrorist financing watchdog that include failure to take action against two of India's most wanted terrorists Maulana Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed, officials said on Friday.

The virtual plenary of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), held in the last three days, concluded that Pakistan will continue in its 'grey' list.

USA: Biden says he would push for USD 15 minimum wage

Washington, Oct 23 (AP/PTI) Former Vice President Joe Biden says he would push for a USD 15-per-hour minimum wage and rejects the idea that it would hurt small businesses.

Biden said at Thursday's debate: There is no evidence that when you raise the minimum wage, businesses go out of business.

President Donald Trump argued that the minimum wage should be left as an issue for the states to determine.

Israel pipeline firm signs deal to transport oil from UAE to Europe

21 Oct 2020; MEMO: Israeli pipeline company EAPC announced on Tuesday that it had signed a preliminary deal with Med-Red company, owned by Israelis and Emiratis, to transport oil from the UAE to Europe, Anadolu reported.

The two companies are planning to transport oil via a pipeline that connects the Red Sea city of Eilat and the Mediterranean port of Ashkelon.

India: Wipro bags five-year deal from Fortum

New Delhi, Oct 20 (PTI) IT services major Wipro on Tuesday said it has bagged an application management (AMS) and services integration and management (SIAM) contract from Fortum, a clean-energy company headquartered in Espoo, Finland.

As a part of the five-year agreement, Wipro will manage Fortum's application portfolio across hundreds of applications for more than 11,500 users across 18 countries and provide 24/7 support for business-critical applications, a statement said.

No financial details of the deal were disclosed.

China warns U.S. it may detain Americans over prosecutions: WSJ

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Chinese government has warned Washington it may detain Americans in China in response to the Justice Department’s prosecution of Chinese military-affiliated scholars, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday.

The newspaper, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter, said Chinese officials had issued repeated warnings through multiple channels to U.S. government officials.

Erdogan announces more gas reserves find in Black Sea

18 Oct 2020; MEMO: The Turkish president on Saturday announced the discovery of an additional 85 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the Black Sea, following a historic find this summer, reports Anadolu Agency. 

“Total amount of natural gas reserves in the TUNA-1 well in Sakarya Gas Field reached 405 billion cubic meters,” Recep Tayyip Erdogan said after his inspections at the drill ship Fatih.

79 Iraqi patients arrive in Turkey for treatment

18 Oct 2020; MEMO: A total of 79 patients, including infants and children, were brought to Turkey on Saturday for treatment upon the request of Iraqi authorities, Anadolu Agency reports.

The patients will be treated for heart, eye, plastic reconstructive and general surgery diseases.

The project that Medicana Hospitals have been conducting with the Iraqi Health Ministry for the last 10 years had been paused due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.
