Turkey keeps calm despite Greece’s provocation: Erdogan

23 Sep 2020; MEMO: Turkey keeps a prudent and calm attitude despite Greece’s provocations and rising tension in the region, the Turkish president said on Wednesday, Anadolu reports.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s remarks came during a phone conversation with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg about the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the relationship between Turkey and NATO.

China trails US in development of sixth-generation aircraft: Report

Beijing, Sep 23 (PTI) China, which in recent years tried to catch up with the US in the design and production of new generation warplanes, is trailing the American air force in the development of the sixth-generation fighter jets by several years, according to a media report.

America is leading the world in the sixth-generation fighter jets with the US Air Force saying it has flown a prototype a milestone that is still years away for China, Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post reported on Wednesday.

Iran's president says U.S. wages "economic war" against Iran

TEHRAN, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday that the United States has waged an economic war against Iran, official IRNA news agency reported.

"We're in economic war" through U.S. sanctions on Iranian financial, economic and business institutions, Rouhani was quoted as saying.

Iran is grappling with "the harshest sanctions in history imposed in blatant and gross violation of the Charter of the United Nations and international agreements," Rouhani said during his Tuesday's address to the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.

India: Gold, silver tumble on weak global trend

New Delhi, Sep 22 (PTI) Gold prices tumbled Rs 672 to Rs 51,328 per 10 gram in the national capital on Tuesday on a weak global trend, according to HDFC Securities.

The yellow metal had closed at Rs 52,000 per 10 gram in the previous trading session.

Silver also witnessed massive selloff with prices tanking Rs 5,781 to Rs 61,606 per kilogram from Rs 67,387 per kilogram in the previous trade.

Israel, India sign MoU to collaborate in tech innovation

New Delhi, Sep 22 (PTI) An agreement was signed on Tuesday between Israel's Start-Up Nation Central and India's International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology (iCreate) to initiate a bilateral program to accelerate innovation and technology cooperation.

In a statement, the Israeli embassy said the aim of this program is to bring together Israeli and Indian entrepreneurs and start-ups to collaborate on innovative projects.

The MoU was signed by Eugene Kandel, CEO of Start-Up Nation Central from Jerusalem and Anupam Jalote, CEO of iCreate from Ahmedabad.

Iran to build new power plant with Russian cooperation

Tehran, Sept 22, IRNA – Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian said on Tuesday that the new contractor selected by Russia for the Sirik 1400-MW power plant has also been endorsed by Iran, noting that the construction operation is expected to start within weeks.

Speaking to IRNA, Ardakanian said that Russian side finally decided to change the contractor and the new one has been conformed by Iran.

He added that the executive procedure of the project is underway.

Russian Federation has undertaken to finance the project.

Iraq protesters shut down Dhi Qar oil company in southern Iraq

22 Sep 2020; MEMO: Protesters in southern Iraq yesterday closed the Dhi Qar oil company and prevented employees from entering the building, Anadolu news agency reported.

The agency quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the protesters burned tyres, and set up roadblocks on the main street leading to the company’s entrance to demand employment opportunities for locals in oil installations in the province.
