Dozens Of Palestinians Injured In West Bank Clashes With Israeli Soldiers: Medics

RAMALLAH, Aug 21 (NNN-WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinian protesters were injured yesterday, in clashes with Israeli soldiers in several West Bank cities and villages, Palestinian medics and eyewitnesses said.

Ahmed Jibril, director of emergency, in the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, said that, dozens of Palestinian protesters were injured.

Eyewitnesses said that clashes broke out near the village of Beita, south of the West Bank city of Nablus, for 107 consecutive days, against the establishment of a settler outpost and seizing part of the villagers’ land.

UN to distribute Qatar cash aid to needy families in Gaza

20 Aug 2021; MEMO: The Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and the United Nations (UN) yesterday signed on Thursday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to distribute Qatari aid to 100,000 needy families in the Gaza Strip, a senior diplomat said.

Qatari Ambassador to Palestine and the committee's Chairman, Mohammed al-Emadi, said in a statement that he had signed the MoU with the UN special coordinator for the Middle East peace process, Tor Wennesland.

Covid-19: Delta variant responsible for 70 percent of active cases in Palestine – official

RAMALLAH, Aug 16 (NNN-Xinhua) — A senior Palestinian official unveiled that 70 percent of the active COVID-19 cases in the Palestinian territories are of the Delta variant.

Palestine might have already entered the fourth wave of the disease, as more infections and hospitalizations are being logged every day, Wesam Sbaihat, the official in charge of COVID-19 affairs in the Palestinian Health Ministry, told state radio Voice of Palestine.

"The US administration is seeking to build confidence between the Palestinian and Israeli sides," Ahmed Majdalani, a member of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO)'s Executive Committee, told official Voice of Palestine Radio.

Men's wheelchair basketball tournament kicks off in Gaza

16 Aug 2021; MEMO: The fifth annual men's wheelchair basketball tournament kicked off yesterday in the northern Gaza Strip after a hiatus of nearly 18 months due to the coronavirus and the Israeli aggression, Anadolu reported.

The tournament was organised by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in cooperation with the Palestinian Paralympic Committee six years ago and has been held annually ever since, however, last year's tournament was postponed due to restrictions on social gatherings due to the coronavirus.

Israel forces kill 4 Palestinians in Jenin

16 Aug 2021; MEMO: Israeli occupation forces shot and killed four Palestinian youth in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin in the early hours of this morning, wounded and kidnapped two others, and detained three, local sources reported.

Palestinian medical sources identified the martyrs as Raed Abu Seif, Amjad Hussainiya, Nour Jarrar, and Saleh Ammar.

They were killed when Israeli occupation forces entered the occupied city and opened fire at Palestinians.

PLO accuses Israel of 'lying' about Area C homes for Palestinians

14 Aug 2021; MEMO: The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) on Saturday accused Israel of lying about allowing the construction of about 1,000 housing units for Palestinians in Area C in the occupied West Bank, Anadolu reports.

"The government of Israel is deceiving and lying in its claims to allow the Palestinians to build [house units] in Area C," the PLO's National Office for Combating Settlements and Land Defense said in its weekly report.

Indian Delta variant blamed for most COVID-19 cases in Palestine

15 Aug 2021; MEMO: The Palestinian Health Ministry said Sunday that most coronavirus cases in the West Bank were caused by the highly infectious Delta variant, reports Anadolu Agency.

"The Delta variant is widely spread with more than 70% of the diagnosed cases were due to the highly contagious strain," ministry official in the West Bank, Wesam Sbeihat, told the official Palestine Voice Radio.

Sbeihat confirmed a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in the Palestinian territories in recent weeks.

14 Aug 2021; MEMO: Tens of Palestinians from Israel performed Friday prayer in front of Ramon Prison in solidarity with Head of the Islamic Movement Sheikh Raed Salah, Arabi21 reported.

According to the news website, the Palestinians expressed their support for Sheikh Salah, who is being held in solitary confinement.

UN experts denounce raid on West Bank NGO, urge Israel to probe child deaths

14 Aug 2021; MEMO: UN human rights experts today called on the Israeli government to immediately return confidential documents and office equipment its military seized from the offices of an NGO fighting for children's rights in the occupied West Bank, Anadolu Agency reports.

"We are deeply concerned by the Israeli military's interference with the human rights work of a well-known and well-regarded NGO," said the experts.
