Palestine: 2 Israelis killed in shooting attack in occupied West Bank

26 Feb 2023; MEMO: Two Israelis were killed in a shooting attack in the occupied West Bank on Sunday, according to the military, Anadolu reports.

A military statement said an Israeli vehicle came under fire in the town of Huwara in the northern West Bank.

Israeli forces sealed off the area and launched a manhunt for the attacker, the army said.

Another Palestinian Man Dies Of Wounds Sustained From Clashes With Israeli Soldiers

RAMALLAH, Feb 25 (NNN-WAFA) – A Palestinian man succumbed to the wounds he sustained, from clashes with Israeli soldiers, two weeks ago, in the northern West Bank city of Jenin, the Palestinian health ministry said.

Mohamed Abu Sabbah, 30, was critically wounded two weeks ago by Israeli soldiers, in the Jenin refugee camp, adjacent to the city, the ministry said in a statement.

Since the start of 2023, 63 Palestinians have been killed, during raids by Israeli soldiers, in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, it added.

UN Delegation In Gaza To Defuse Hamas-Israeli Tension: Sources

GAZA, Feb 24 (NNN-WAFA) – A UN delegation arrived in the Gaza Strip yesterday, to defuse tension between Israel and Hamas, the ruler of the Palestinian enclave, Palestinian security sources said.

The delegation, headed by UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, entered Gaza through the Israeli-controlled Erez Crossing, in the northern tip of Gaza, the sources said, on condition of anonymity.

Ahmed Qureia, top Palestinian negotiator with Israel, dies

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) — Ahmed Qureia, a former Palestinian prime minister and one of the architects of interim peace deals with Israel, has died at age 85.

A key player in the 1993 Oslo peace accords, Qureia witnessed the rise of the dream of Palestinian statehood that surged during the negotiations. But he also saw those hopes recede, with the prospect of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict drifting further than ever. Domestically, Qureia was riddled with corruption charges that tainted his reputation.

10 Palestinians killed, scores hurt in Israel West Bank raid

NABLUS, West Bank (AP) — Israeli troops on Wednesday entered a major Palestinian city in the occupied West Bank in a rare, daytime arrest operation, triggering fighting that killed at least 10 Palestinians and wounded scores of others.

The raid, which reduced a building to rubble and left a series of shops riddled with bullets, was one of the bloodiest battles in nearly a year of fighting in the West Bank and east Jerusalem. Two men, ages 72 and 61, were among the dead, and 102 people were wounded, Palestinian officials said.

Israel settlers attack mosque in occupied city of Hebron

20 Feb 2023; MEMO: A group of Israeli settlers yesterday threw stones at a mosque in the Old City of Hebron, smashing its windows and damaging its yard, local sources said.

Sunia Mosque, located in the Al-Sahla area close to the vegetable market, was targeted as part of settler "attempt to intimidate the worshippers and spread an atmosphere of fear and terror among them," Director General of the Hebron Endowment, Nidal Al-Jabari, said.

Palestinian President Called On Blinken To Urge Israel To Stop Unilateral Measures In West Bank

RAMALLAH, Feb 19 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, yesterrday called on U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to pressure the Israeli government to stop its unilateral measures in the Palestinian territories.

An official statement sent to reporters said that, Abbas received a phone call from Blinken, during which they discussed the latest developments “in the wake of the recent Israeli decisions that violate the signed agreements and international resolutions.”

Palestine: Gaza rally warns about 'explosion' due to Israeli violence in Jerusalem

14 Feb 2023; MEMO: A rally of local and international organisations and charities was held in Gaza on Monday in support of Jerusalem, warning of a "potential explosion" due to continuous Israeli violence in Jerusalem and attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque, Anadolu has reported. At least 70 organisations took part in the rally, including the Palestinian Ministry of Religious Endowments (Awqaf), the International Union of Muslim Scholars, the Committee of Palestine Scholars and the Preachers' Forum.
