Israel: ministers support settler violence against Palestinians

26 June 2023; MEMO: Ministers of the far-right ruling coalition in Israel frankly supported settler terrorism against the Palestinians in West Bank villages, Israeli media reported on Sunday. The disclosure came after hundreds of extremist Jewish settlers set fire to cars, homes, farms and other properties in several Palestinian villages across the occupied West Bank.

US calls on Israel to probe and prosecute settler rioters

26 June 2023; MEMO: The US administration called on Sunday for Israel to investigate the recent settler "riots and terror" in Palestinian villages and prosecute the perpetrators, Israel's Army Radio has reported.

The US Advisor on National Security Affairs, Jake Sullivan, is said to have spoken on the telephone with his Israeli counterpart Tzachi Hanegbi and discussed the settler violence against the Palestinian villages.

US army veteran gets 55 years for Islamophobic murder

22 June 2023; MEMO: A US army veteran has been sentenced to 55 years in prison for the murder of an Afghan refugee after he shouted Islamophobic slurs at the victim, Anadolu Agency reports.

After a three-day trial, Dustin Passarelli was convicted in the Mid-western US state of Indiana of the murder of Mustafa Ayoubi, 32, with additional time for using a firearm.

UN chief slams Israel settler attacks as 'acts of terrorism'

23 June 2023; MEMO: The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, has condemned the Israeli settlers' attacks on Palestinian property, describing them as "acts of terrorism".

In a statement issued by his office, Guterres said the settlers' terrorist acts included "acts of sabotage and arson of land, property and schools in Palestinian villages around Nablus and Ramallah."

Palestine: Israeli settlers raid mosque, rip Qurans

23 June 2023; MEMO: Illegal Israeli settlers, last night, attacked Palestinian residents in Masafer Yatta district to the south of Hebron in the Occupied West Bank, reported Wafa news agency.

According to local activist, Osama Al-Makhamreh, the settlers from Havat Maon were under the protection of Israeli occupation forces as they assaulted Palestinian shepherds and civilians in the village of Khirbet Tuba, based in Masafer Yatta, resulting in grave injuries.

Palestine: UN warns of violence spiralling out of control in occupied West Bank

24 June 2023; MEMO: The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk warned on Friday that the violence in the West Bank risks: "Spiralling out of control, fuelled by strident political rhetoric and an escalation in the use of advanced military weaponry by Israel."

Palestine Prisoners Club warns of skin disease among detainees at Ramon Prison

24 June 2023; MEMO: The Palestinian Prisoners Club (PPC) warned on Friday of the potential spread of skin disease among Palestinian prisoners at the Israeli Ramon Prison, a statement disclosed.

The PPC announced that ten prisoners at Ramon Prison had contracted a skin disease, expressing concerns that it may spread among other prisoners if medical treatment is not given.

Palestinians have right to defend themselves against Israel's crimes; Abbas

22 June 2023; MEMO: Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas said on Tuesday that Palestinians have the right to defend themselves against crimes committed by illegal settlers and the Israeli occupation army.

In a phone call with Turmus Ayya Mayor Lafi Deeb, Abbas offered his condolences following the murder of 25-year-old Palestinian Omar Qattin.
