Palestinian Foreign Ministry accuses Israel of apartheid, terrorizing critics

RAMALLAH, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Palestinian Foreign Ministry on Saturday accused Israel of anchoring apartheid through legislations that terrorize critics.

The ministry said in a statement that an Israeli draft law that would impose stiff prison term on activists in the anti-Israel boycott movement seeks to terrorize Israel critics.

U.S.-led coalition kills 62 in Syria's Deir al-Zour: state media

DAMASCUS, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- A total of 62 people have been killed over the past 24 hours as a result of the U.S.-led airstrikes on the country's eastern province of Deir al-Zour, state news agency SANA reported Saturday.

The coalition's airstrikes targeted areas in the village of Souseh in the countryside of the city of Abu Kamal in the eastern countryside of Deir al-Zour, killing 15 people, including women and children.

The U.S.-led airstrikes also killed 37 others when targeting a mosque in that area.

Hezbollah leader says cabinet formation ongoing, obstacles remain

BEIRUT, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Hezbollah Leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said Friday that a progress regarding the cabinet formation in Lebanon is ongoing but a few obstacles still remain, local TV Channel Al Jadeed reported.

"There are still some problems related to the distribution of cabinet shares," said Nasrallah in a televised speech.

He denied allegations by some media outlets about Iran and Syria preventing government formation in Lebanon.

All Israeli airlines to stop flying from 2019 due to security concerns: media

JERUSALEM, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Israel's leading airline El Al warns that all Israeli airlines will stop flying from Jan. 1, 2019 because of security concerns abroad, a local newspaper reported Sunday.

The surprising announcement was made by Eli Dapas, El Al chairman, in his urgent letter to the deputy head of Israel's National Security Council and the director general of the Prime Minister's Office, the Hebrew-language newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported.

Jordan's king says injustice against Palestinians must end

AMMAN, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan said the kingdom's position on the Palestinian cause is unwavering and injustice against the Palestinians must end.

The king made his remarks at the opening of the 3rd ordinary session of the 18th Parliament, where he said it is a must to enable the Palestinians to establish their independent, sovereign state on the 1967 border, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

On the war on terrorism, King Abdullah said Jordan remains committed to its leading role in fighting terrorism and extremism.

U.S.-led coalition fires white phosphorus on IS-held area in eastern Syria

DAMASCUS, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- The U.S.-led coalition has used white phosphorus munitions in an attack on a town in eastern Syria, state news agency SANA reported on Saturday.

The attack, which took place over the past few hours, targeted the town of Hajin in the eastern countryside of the eastern province of Deir al-Zour, said SANA.

The report said the attack left no causalities.

SANA said the attack is the not the first one, as U.S.-led airstrikes used phosphorus ammunition in an attack on Hajin last month.

Saudi rejects 'baseless' murder claims over missing journalist

A Saudi delegation was in Turkey for talks on the case, which threatens not only to harm fragile relations between the two countries but also to do serious damage to the reformist credentials of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the kingdom's ties to the West.

6 Palestinians shot dead in Gaza by Israeli forces

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip; 13 Oct 2018; (AP) Palestinian health officials say Israeli forces have shot dead six Palestinians, four of them in a single incident, in one of the deadliest days in months of mass protests along the security fence separating Gaza and Israel.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said Friday that four were killed in one location, where the Israeli military said it opened fire on a crowed of Palestinians who breached the fence and approached an army post. No Israeli troops were harmed, the army added.

Woman dies after settlers pelt car with stones

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip; 13 Oct 2018; (AP) Palestinians in the northern West Bank say a woman has been killed after being struck in the head by a stone thrown by Israeli settlers.

A relative says Aisha Rabi, 48, was traveling with her husband and two daughters to their home in Bidya early Saturday when their vehicle was pelted with stones.

Her cousin, Isam Rabi, says she was struck in the head and rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. He says her husband saw a small group of settlers nearby.

Turkish court frees US pastor Andrew Brunson

13 Oct 2018; DW: US pastor Andrew Brunson left Turkey and touched down at a US airforce base in Germany on his way back to the US. He had spent two years in detention on espionage and terrorism charges.

A Turkish court on Friday sentenced US pastor Andrew Brunson to over three years in jail on a "terror" charge, but said that he would not spend any more time behind bars due to the time he had already spent in custody.
