Banned currency notes found in Nullah cleaning

Kanpur: It was astonishing that the confiscated currency notes in the denomination of one thousand and five hundred were found into the drains during its cleaning in Govind Nagar area here on Thursday.

When the safari mazdoor deputed for cleaning the nullah saw wads of banned currency notes, they started removing silt fast. They kept the notes under their possession and informed the NN officers about the recovery of demonetised notes.

The cleaning of the mullah was underway near a cinema hall in Govind Nagar. The KMC executive engineer Ashok Bhati said that the recovered amount would soon be given to the police.

The demonetization was done years ago and the bundle of currency notes were found at present. It showed the way the drains were cleaned. Some say the cleaning was not done up to the bottom that was why the silt remained. When the layers of silt removed the currency notes came out.

The Nullah was cleaned two times previously but safai workers seemed to have left cleaning up to the rock bottom. What had not been attended by the Nigam's engineers has now been extensively exposed.
