India: HBTU gets extra seats in engineering courses

KANPUR: The admission committee of the prestigious Harcourt Butler Technical University has decided to increase seats in the engineering branches. In a meeting held on January 10, 2019, a consensus on making admission possible at least on 120 seats on all the seven branches of the engineering department has reached.

The admission on increased seats would be started with the new academic session. So far the university had been providing admission on a total of 478 seats. By adding the numbers in admission to Master of Business Administration & Master of Computer Application courses the total strength would go up to 772.

Confirming this decision, Prof Narendra Bahadur Singh, vice-chancellor, Harcourt Butler Technical University said that the seats have been raised in every branch of the engineering. It has been increased fourfold after the university’s inception in the year 1921.

This state technical university was named after Sir Spencer Harcourt Butler, Governor of the United Provinces in British India. All its programmes have been conferred in autonomous status under the university.

He also added that the university will also allow admission in the Master of Business Administration course on as many as 120 seats. Approval from the All India Council for Technical Education would be sought later.
