India: Speeding car hits sisters, one dies other hurt

KANPUR: A speeding Mercedes car hit the scooty on Ganga Barrage road in Bitthoor on Thursday evening. One girl died on the spot while another was badly injured. The car driver tried to run away but the locals caught him up and handed him over to the police.

According to news reports, two sisters Sangeeta and Sivani were going through Ganga Barrage way to Hospital Ghat in Gwaltoli. Suddenly they came in front of the fast-moving car and had a collision. It was so severe as both the sisters fell down afar. As Sangeeta received head injury she immediately died on the spot. Her sister Shivani was badly injured in the accident.

20-year-old Sangeeta and 15-year-old Shivani were on their way to her brother’s house in Gwaltoli area. They were actually going to pick their mother up. She was employed as a Class IV employee at Sales Tax office here. A resident of Pratappur in Bitthoor, Sangeeta was a B.A. final year student.

Eyewitnesses said that the car was running very fast. The car driver was under the police custody. On account of deserted Ganga Barrage road from Singhpur side, people with a liking of fast driving feel free on the road. Sangeeta’s accident was supposed to have been caused by this reason.
