India: Empty ground delayed Shah-Yogi speech

KANPUR: Ample seating arrangements were made for Amit Shah’s rally on Railway Ground at Nirala Nagar on Wednesday, but the BJP office-bearers looked disheartened with the vacant seats. Thousands of the red chairs were empty until noon.

The BJP leaders who were present on the dais kept on telling the crowd of the reason behind the delay in the arrival of the party president Amit Shah and Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath. It was reported that they arrived two hours late.

By that time the chairs were amply occupied by the workers. It was a Booth Conference of Bundelkhand-Kanpur region consisting of as many as 17 districts. It was said that seating arrangements were for about 25 thousands booth workers.

The state CM Yogi Aditynath landed at the Chakeri airport at about 11.15 am but waited there for the arrival of the party president. Amit Shah arrived at about 12.40 pm from New Delhi.

Perhaps, the 30% vacant seats was the reason behind delay of Shah and Yogi arriving the venue on time. Before their arrival, the party’s state president M N Pandey, Satish Mahana, Niranjan Jyoti, Satyadev Pachauri were present on the podium.
