KESCO concerned at low realisation of dues

KANPUR: Does it sound unfamiliar that defaulters evade paying electricity dues despite tough measures adopted by KESCO? As many as 695 defaulters have paid the dues amounting Rs 2.63 crore against recovery notice issued at the Tehsil level. Whereas there are existing a total of 10703 defaulters who were served with the recovery notice.

It was this disparate reason which compelled Saumaya Agarwal, Managing Director, KESCO to approach the district magistrate V Vishwas Pant to extend help in expediting the recovery of the power dues. Whatever amount has been collected stands at only 4.34 per cent of the total dues.

According to the sources the total arrears have amounted to Rs 60.56 crore. There are 72 defaulters who owe unpaid electricity bill amount of over Rs 10 lakh. each

KESCO has been providing vehicles, fuel and drivers to four teams designated for realising the dues from the defaulters in different divisions. However, department officials do not take into consideration the genuine correction in the monthly electricity bills and the consumers have to suffer a lot. This needs to be attended properly., they demanded.
