India: KU's bid to conduct copy-free exams dampens

KANPUR: Determined to conduct copy-free examinations of Kanpur University, the administrative officials of the university were showing attentiveness. In the raid at Karmshetra Degree College, Auriya conducted under university registrar on Sunday, the examinees were caught with copying materials and the mobile sets.

Taking action against the college the registrar recommended cancellation of the exam. As many as three mobiles were seized and even copying materials were also snatched. The examination centres have also been changed.

Girl examinees of the college will now go to Puttu Singh College, Bela Road. DS Ramgoapal Mahavidyalaya's centre has been changed to Har Govind Singh Degree College, Katra. Bhartiya Mahavidyalaya centre Bela and Ram Manohar Lohia College centres have been changed to Munnu Lal Dwivedi College, Auriya.

On Tuesday the invigilators remained too alert to check copying at the centre.

In compliance with the instructions given under the directives of the state government, certain manifestations dampen their better intentions.

Earlier, the Vice-chancellor Prof Nilima Gupta expressed her deep dismay at a college staff attending duty without an identity card. She warned if they were caught again strict action against the centre-in-charge would be initiated. If any staff member was seen at self-finance centre, there would be observed no leniency.

Taking a round of the DSN Degree College, Unnao in the past days, she found that a few examinees were seen with mobile in their hands. The seating arrangement was also improper. As many as seventy per cent examinees left the exam within fifteen minutes after her decision to carry on examination in presence of the flying squad.

It was also seen that manager, H S A Degree College Razipur, Kamalganj, Farrukhabad was freely moving inside the college. The Registrar Dr VK Singh issued instructions to ban his entry in previous days.
