Kanpur: Formed under the president ship of the District Magistrate on the directives of the Election Commission, the Screening Panel has allowed only those persons to keep the licensed arms who face threat to their lives all the time.
According to the reports more than l000 people were permited to carry their arms during the election time. An arms holder secures a certificate of license after getting concession for keepung the arms. They will not have to deposit their arms during the polls.
There were as many as 46020 arms holders in the district, as reports said adding that a total of 25204 arms have been deposited in view of the approaching elections.
Till Monday as many as 990 applicants were issued concession and above 200 applications were pending before the panel.
