BEIJING, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Tuesday said that problems in U.S. democracy can only be solved by the American people themselves, and that fake democracy will certainly meet resistance from the international community.

Spokesperson Wang Wenbin made the remarks at a daily press briefing in response to a query on the results of a recent poll by the U.S. National Public Radio, which showed that 81 percent of American people believe democracy in the country faces a severe threat.

Chinese premier urges efforts to foster, strengthen market entities

BEIJING, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has underlined the importance of work to foster and strengthen market entities to stimulate market vitality and social creativity.

Li, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks while chairing a symposium during an inspection trip to the State Administration for Market Regulation on Monday.

BEIJING (AP) — China’s Huawei Technologies Co. is providing smart services and 5G technology to industries such as healthcare, creating new revenue streams that might offset the damage to its smartphone business from U.S. sanctions.

In the southern city of Guangzhou, the company teamed up with the Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital to equip it with 5G technology and more than 10,000 smart devices that can collect and transmit real-time health data from patients to doctors and nurses to improve patient care.

China slams "declassified assessment on COVID-19 origins" released by U.S.

BEIJING, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- China on Sunday slammed the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) for releasing a declassified version of its report on the novel coronavirus origins on Friday, and said that the report has no scientific basis or credibility.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin made the remarks when asked to comment on the release of the report. He stressed that when the U.S. intelligence agency released the so-called unclassified summary of assessment on COVID-19 origins in August, China made clear its firm opposition.

Beijing reacts to India’s deployment of weapons on China-India border

BEIJING, Oct 29 (APP): China on Friday reacted to India’s deployment of US-made weapons along Sino-Indian border and hoped that the relevant side could do things that were conducive to peace and stability, rather the opposite.

China tightens control over company data with transfer rules

BEIJING (AP) — Companies in China would need government approval to transfer important data abroad under proposed rules announced Friday that would tighten Beijing’s control over information and might disrupt operations for international corporations.

The measure is needed to protect the Chinese public and “safeguard national security,” the Cyberspace Administration of China said.

China discovers large gold mine

BEIJING, Oct 28 (APP): A large gold mine with an initially estimated gold reserve of 31.55 tonnes has been discovered in central China’s Henan Province.

According to the provincial bureau of geology and mineral exploration and development, the mine is in Zhuzhuang Township in Tongbai County, Chinese media report.

The estimated gold reserve at the mine is likely to exceed 50 tonnes by the end of this year after further exploration, it said.

For decades, Henan Province has remained China’s second-largest gold-producing region.
