Chinese mainland reports 22 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases

BEIJING, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese mainland on Sunday reported 22 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases in Fujian Province, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Monday.

Also reported were 27 new imported cases, including 17 in Yunnan, five in Shanghai, three in Guangdong and one each in Sichuan and Shaanxi.

No new suspected cases or new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported on Sunday, the commission said.

Seventh legislative election wraps up in Macao SAR

MACAO, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- The election of the seventh Legislative Assembly of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) wrapped up early Monday morning with the preliminary results showing 14 candidates won the directly-elected seats, about half of whom were new faces, and 12 won the indirectly-elected seats.

Voting started from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time on Sunday. Despite heat and sudden downpours, over 100,000 voters went to the ballot.

Election of Macao's seventh Legislative Assembly kicks off

MACAO, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- The election of the seventh Legislative Assembly of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) kicked off Sunday morning.

Voting started at 9:00 a.m. and is scheduled to conclude at 9:00 p.m. local time. The preliminary results are expected to come out early Monday morning.

MoU signed to promote China-Pak cooperation in international arbitration

BEIJING, Sept. 11 (APP): Guangzhou Arbitration Commission (GZAC), China and Center for International Investment and Commercial Arbitration (CIICA) - Pakistan's first international arbitration center - signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to deepen cooperation in international arbitration between both countries.

According to GZAC, the signing of MoU symbolizes the joint construction of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) by arbitration organizations of China and Pakistan.

SHANGHAI/HANOI, Sept 11 (Reuters) - China and Vietnam should refrain from unilateral actions regarding the South China Sea that could complicate the situation and magnify disputes, senior Chinese diplomat Wang Yi told a Vietnamese official, China's foreign ministry said.

State Councillor Wang was speaking with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh during a visit to Vietnam, the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

HONG KONG (AP) — Three leaders of the group that organized an annual Tiananmen candlelight vigil were being held in custody Friday after they were charged with subversion under Hong Kong’s national security law, as authorities intensify a crackdown on dissent in the city.

The Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China’s chairman Lee Cheuk-yan, as well as vice-chairs Albert Ho and Chow Hang-tung were charged with inciting subversion of state power under the national security law. The alliance itself was also charged with subversion.
