China becomes main export destination of Pakistani pine nuts

BEIJING, Sep 1 (APP): The favor of Chinese consumers for Pakistani pine nuts has driven huge import demand, and China has become the main export destination of Pakistani pine nuts.

It is still a month away from Pakistan’s pine nut harvest season, but Chinese buyers can’t wait. On a mainstream e-commerce platform in China, a store selling Pakistani pine nuts has sold 10,000+ bags a month, and got 3,009 comments.
“The pine nut has a strong flavor with full and large kernel. It can be shelled with just a slight pinch, and fresh kernels lay inside.”

China sees expansion in 5G network coverage

BEIJING, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- China has so far built 993,000 5G base stations, covering more than 95 percent of counties and 35 percent of rural townships, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said Tuesday.

The number of 5G mobile phone users has exceeded 392 million, the ministry said at the 2021 World 5G Convention that opened Tuesday in Beijing.

The meeting attracted over 1,500 industry experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs from 20 countries participating online and offline.

US envoy Kerry due to talk on climate with Chinese officials

BEIJING (AP) — Chinese and U.S. officials plan to talk this week about reducing pollution by the world’s two largest economies — an area of potential cooperation between two governments whose relations are strained on other issues.

U.S. climate envoy John Kerry is scheduled for meetings with counterparts from the Chinese government beginning Wednesday.

Relations between Washington and Beijing have been strained by disputes over trade, technology and human rights, but the sides have identified the climate crisis as an area for possible cooperation.

Asian stocks follow Wall St higher amid virus uncertainty

BEIJING (AP) — Asian stock markets were mixed Wednesday as investors weighed the economic impact of the spread of the coronavirus’s delta variant and Wall Street ended August with a gain for the seventh straight month.

Shanghai, Tokyo and Hong Kong advanced. Sydney declined.

Wall Street’s benchmark S&P 500 declined 0.1% on Tuesday from the previous day’s record but ended August with a 2.9% gain.

China: Officials, researchers denounce British politicians' meddling in Xinjiang affairs

BEIJING, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Officials and researchers in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have lashed out at some anti-China forces in Britain for interfering in Xinjiang affairs.

"The accusations made by some British politicians against Xinjiang are contrary to the facts and ridiculous. They are nothing but gimmicks born out of political manipulation," Xu Guixiang, a spokesperson with the regional government, said at a press conference held in Beijing.

Chinese, U.S. climate envoys to hold face-to-face talks

BEIJING, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry was invited to visit China from Aug. 31 to Sept. 3, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment said Tuesday.

During the period, China Special Envoy for Climate Change Xie Zhenhua will hold talks with John Kerry in Tianjin to exchange views on topics including the Sino-U.S. climate change cooperation and the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. 

China’s manufacturing sector slows as export demand weakens

BEIJING (AP) — China’s factory activity decelerated in August as export demand weakened, a survey showed Tuesday.

The monthly purchasing managers’ index of the Chinese statistics bureau and an official industry group declined to 50.1 from July’s 50.4 on a 100-point scale on which numbers above 50 show activity increasing.

A sub-measure of new exports fell by a full point from the previous month to 46.7, according to the National Bureau of Statistics and the China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing.

China's Mars rover completes 100 days on red planet's surface

BEIJING, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- China's Mars rover Zhurong has spent 100 days exploring the red planet's surface since it first set its wheels on Martian soil on May 22, according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA) on Monday.

The rover is part of China's Tianwen-1 mission that also consists of an orbiter and a lander. The mission was launched on July 23, 2020.

As of Monday, Zhurong has traveled 1,064 meters on the surface of Mars, while the orbiter has been in orbit for 403 days. The two are in good condition and functioning properly, according to the CNSA.

China opposes U.S. deporting Chinese students: FM spokesperson

BEIJING, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- China strongly opposes the deportation of three Chinese students from the United States and has lodged solemn representations with the country, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said here on Monday.

According to media reports, three Chinese students with legal visas were returned to China on Aug. 15 after being interrogated by U.S. officials on arrival at Houston Airport.

Spokesperson Wang Wenbin said China is strongly dissatisfied with and resolutely opposed to the U.S. move. China has lodged solemn representations with the United States.

Pakistan Pavilion launched in Urumqi to showcase Made-in-Pakistan products in China

BEIJING, Aug 29 (APP): A “VR Pakistan National Pavilion” was launched at the ongoing 2021 Online (China) Eurasia Commodity and Trade Expo (EACT EXPO 2021) to showcase Made-in-Pakistan products to the globe especially China during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to its operator UNI International Business Consultancy Co. Ltd., the VR pavilion is a permanent online pavilion which includes three theme areas, namely, the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, for cooperation between China And Pakistan, and for Pakistani specialty.
