Indian HC stays arrest of SP's Azam Khan, his wife and son

Allahabad, Mar 27 (PTI) The Allahabad High Court Wednesday stayed the arrest of senior SP leader Azam Khan, his wife and son in a case of alleged forgery and cheating to secure two "fake" birth date certificates for their son.

A bench of justices Manoj Mishra and Vivek Verma suspended the arrest of Khan, his wife Nazneem Fatima, a Rajya Sabha member and son Abdullah Azam Khan, an Uttar Pradesh MLA on their petition seeking quashing of the FIR against them.

India: IG Zone lauds police officials

Kanpur:  Under Operation grid lock the IG Zone Alok Singh was on his way to conduct cross checking on Thursday. As he was passing through Raipur edge in Sachendi his private car was stopped by the police officer on duty. The driver lowered the window pane but the policemen were surprised to see him seated in the car. He got down and patted the officer's shoulder. He asked the police inspector and others to be vigilant. They should not leave any vehicle without proper checking, he stated.

Rae Bareli (UP), Mar 29 (PTI) Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has thrown a hint that she is not averse to taking on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his own Lok Sabha constituency.

"Shouldn't I fight from Varanasi?" Vadra said when a party worker asked her to contest from Rae Bareli, according to a participant at the meeting.

India: LLR hospital's medicine deptt Wards need repairing

Kanpur: Poor patients go to the government hospitals for they can afford treatment there. But the Lala Lajpat Rai hospital here looks very pathetic. Its certain Wards have its own tale to tell. Its Medicine Department Wards were definitely needed repairing as early as it can be initiated. 

Although its male Ward number 16 is under renovation, yet Ward no 7 and Ward no 11 are so dilapidated as its ceiling plaster peels off time and again. Even the bricks were also falling down which led to removal of patients from Ward no 7. While another ward no 11 has also been closed. 

India: 75-year-old woman raped, beaten up in UP

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Mar 28 (PTI) An elderly woman was allegedly raped by a 30-year-old man who also thrashed her when she opposed him in Kamruddin Nagar village here Thursday, police said.

The 75-year-old woman had left home to relieve herself in the nearby fields when the accused, Rajiv, allegedly raped her and also beat her up when she resisted, they said.

The woman was admitted to hospital. The villagers later caught the accused and handed him over to police, they added.

India: Election pattern changed in Manchester of East

Kanpur: As many as 11 Parliamentarians have so far been sent to Dome of Democracy from  Kanpur. This figure covers all the 18 general elections held from the year1951 to 2014.

The party-wise figure goes thus: Congress 7,BJP 4,Independent 4, Praja Socialist Party 1,BLD 1, CPI 1.

There were 8 independent candidates who contested election in the year 2004. It was for the first time in the history of Kanpur a total of 16 candidates were in the fray.  

India: CBSE examinees trap in Economics question paper

Kanpur: The CBSE examinees trapped into tricky questions in Economics paper of Class 12. They could not solve question related with the national income. That particular question was so asked as it caused mental stress to the examinees. 

One teacher told the question paper was tricky but it was scoring too. The students were a little more panicky. 

On the contrary, the Class 10 Computer question paper was too easy to solve. They got considerable choice in the theory paper. They did not dishearten by looking at the question paper. 

India: Nirmohi Akhara requests SC to move Ayodhya mediation to 'neutral place'

New Delhi, Mar 26; PTI/GANASHAKTI: Nirmohi Akhara, one of the original litigants in the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case, has requested the Supreme Court to consider moving the mediation panel proceedings from Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh to New Delhi or some other "neutral place" due to the sensitive nature of the issue.

It has also said that an amicable resolution would be possible only through "direct dialogue" between the UP Sunni Wakf Board and the Nirmohi Akhara.

Indian Polls: EC decides symbols for independent candidates

Kanpur: There remains a crowd of independent candidates in the general elections.

This tendency also appears at the present edition of the parlimentary polls.

The unique as well as odd symbols of the independepent candidates do attract the voters.

Capsicum, Bread, Air-conditioner and other things have been selected as the election symbol by them.

According to the Election Commission, as many as 178 symbols have been chosen for distributing to the independent candidats.

Indian Polls: 49 nomination papers for 1st ph rejected in UP

Lucknow, Mar 26 (PTI) Nomination papers of 49 candidates for the first phase of Lok Sabha polls on the state's eight seats were rejected Tuesday after they were found invalid during scrutiny, election officials said.

In a statement issued here, an official said that out of the total 146 candidates who filed nominations for the first phase on April 11, 97 remain in the fray after scrutiny.
