India: JeM explodes fire crackers in train and leave notes: claims Indian police

New Delhi, Feb 20 (PTI) A low-intensity blast took place on board the Kanpur-Bhiwani Kalindi Express near Kanpur on Wednesday, although no casualty was reported, officials said.

According to Additional Director General of Police (Kanpur zone) Avinash Chandra, some material apparently belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammad terror outfit was recovered from the spot.

KESCO concerned at low realisation of dues

India: 1,190 Naxal terrorists killed since 2010

Noida (UP), Feb 19 (PTI) As many as 1,190 Left Wing Extremists, also called Naxals, have been killed by security forces in the country since 2010, an RTI response has revealed.

There have been 11,567 incidents involving Naxals during the period in which 1,331 security personnel suffered injuries, the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) Division, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, stated in the reply.

India: More than 100 people booked for blocking NH-9

Ghaziabad (UP), Feb 19 (PTI) More than 100 people blocked National Highway-9 here, following which a police case was registered against them on Tuesday, officials said.

SP (city) Shlok Kumar said a candlelight march was carried out on Monday night remembering the killed soldiers in the recent Pulwama terror attack.

After the march, those who participated in it blocked the highway due to which traffic near Khoda and Indira Puram was affected for two hours.

India: Work begins on synthetic track at Nana Rao Park

KANPUR: As many as ten thousand people visit Nanarao Park daily that sprawls in an area of 25 acres of land. This park will be beautified with an amount of Rs 9.76 crore under the Smart City Mission. The beautification project will be completed in a span of nine months. City’s first synthetic track, besides one cycle track, will also be developed at the park.

Man arrested for supplying arms to Khalistani supporters

Muzaffarnagar, Feb 17 (PTI) A man was arrested for allegedly supplying arms to the Khalistani supporters, police said Sunday.

Sanjiv Rathi alias Guddu was arrested by the ATS with the help of Punjab Police in Budhana Police Station area on Saturday, they said.

Two pistols and nine cartridges were were seized from Rathi, who supplied arms to Khalistani supporters, the police said.

India: Akhilesh attacks Modi govt over soldiers' deaths

Lucknow, Feb 18 (PTI) Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav sought to corner the Narendra Modi government on Monday over the death of soldiers, asking "why the government is waiting and watching".

"Till when will the three day period of mourning keep getting extended? Everyday we get news of the brave martyrdom of our jawans while smiling BJP politicians accompany their funeral processions. Why is the govt waiting and watching?," he said in a tweet.
