Iran to sign agreement to join SCO at organization’s summit — MFA

TEHRAN, September 12. /TASS/: Iran will sign an agreement to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization at its upcoming summit, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said on Monday.

"The process of Iran's admission [to the organization] is coming to an end. At the upcoming meeting of the SCO, an agreement will be officially signed on Iran's obligations to obtain the status of a member of the organization," he was quoted as saying by the ministry’s press service.

Iran develops drone capable of striking Israeli cities: commander

TEHRAN, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Iranian army has developed an advanced unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capable of striking the Israeli cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa, Press TV reported Monday, citing an Iranian commander.

The Arash-2 drone, with the capability to retrieve information before striking and destroying the designated target, "has been specifically designed to target Haifa and Tel Aviv," Kioumars Heydari, ground force commander of the Iranian army, said in an interview on Sunday.

Iran To Conduct Final Test Of Upgraded Home-Grown Missile Defence System

TEHRAN, Sept 10 (NNN-IRNA) – A top Iranian military commander said yesterday, the country will carry out the final test of its upgraded homegrown missile defence system, dubbed Bavar (Belief) 373, in the coming days, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.

Alireza Sabahi-Fard, commander of the Iranian Army’s Air Defence Force, said in a televised interview that, the system has successfully completed all its initial tests.

He stressed that, all Iranian air defence systems have been equipped with cutting-edge technologies, with Bavar 373 being the army’s flagship.

Iran condemns fresh U.S. sanctions against its intelligence ministry

TEHRAN, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Iran on Saturday condemned the new U.S. sanctions against its intelligence ministry, which has been accused of launching an alleged cyber attack on Albania.

"This new sanctions label, just like the previous illegal U.S. sanctions against the Intelligence Ministry, will never be able to create the slightest upset in the determination of the security servants of the Iranian people," Nasser Kanaani, spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said in a statement.

TEHRAN, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Iran announced on Friday that all six land border crossings with Iraq are temporarily closed until further notice due to congestion, hot weather, and lack of facilities to ensure passengers' health and security, according to the official news agency IRNA.

The closure was announced by Majid Mir-Ahmadi, head of Iran's Arbaeen Central Headquarter, as the land border crossings have been jammed by millions of Iranians heading to neighboring Iraq for the annual Arbaeen pilgrimage.
