MULTAN, Nov 3 (APP): Chairman Kashmir Committee, Syed Fakhar Imam said on Sunday that Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi was going against his country’s constitution on Kashmir issue as stripping of its special status on August 5, was unwise and unjust decision.

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Pakistan’s powerful military said it supported the country’s elected government and the constitution, as tens of thousands of opposition protesters gathered in the capital demanding that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s year-old government quits by Sunday.

“We believe in the law and the constitution and our support is with the democratically elected government, not with any party,” military spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor said in comments to a television news channel late on Friday.

Islamabad, Nov 2 (PTI) The Pakistan Army on Saturday warned that no one will be allowed to create instability and chaos in the country, a day after the incalcitrant cleric and politician Maulana Fazlur Rehman set a two-day deadline for Prime Minister Imran Khan to step down.

The hard-line cleric addressed a massive protest rally, dubbed "Azadi March", held here on Friday to topple the incumbent government.

Islamabad, Nov 1 (PTI) Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday announced that Sikh pilgrims from India would not need a passport to travel to Kartarpur and no fee would be charged from them on the opening day of the corridor on November 9.

"For Sikhs coming for pilgrimage to Kartarpur from India, I have waived off two requirements: i) they won't need a passport-just a valid ID; ii) they no longer have to register 10 days in advance. Also, no fee to be charged on day of inauguration and on Guruji's 550th birthday," Khan tweeted.

MULTAN, Pakistan (AP) — A raging fire swept through a train in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab Province on Thursday, killing 74 people, and survivors said afterward it took nearly 20 minutes for the train to stop amid contradictory reports about the condition of the train’s brakes.

Three carriages were consumed by flames from a fire caused by a cooking gas stove and dozens of people jumped in panic from the speeding train.

MULTAN, Pakistan (AP) — A massive fire caused by a cooking gas stove erupted on Thursday on a train traveling in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province, killing at least 65 passengers, officials said.

Flames roared through the train cars as the train approached the town of Liaquatpur in Punjab, they said, the latest tragedy to hit Pakistan’s dilapidated, poorly maintained and mismanaged rail system.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 30 (APP): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Wednesday underlined the need to 10 enhancing economic cooperation and people to people exchanges between Pakistan and Cuba in order to deepen and strengthen the bilateral ties.

He expressed these views during the wide-ranging talks with Vice President of Cuba Roberto Morales Odeja along with his delegation here at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Cuban delegation is on a three-day bilateral visit to Islamabad, a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here said.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 29 (APP): The Government of Japan has announced a contribution of US $2.1 million to support refugees and their host communities in Pakistan.

The new funding will strengthen UNHCR’s interventions in the areas of education, healthcare and water and sanitation, benefiting 70,000 refugees and host communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Islamabad, Punjab and Sindh.

The Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, Kuninori Matsuda and UNHCR’s Representative in Pakistan, Ms Ruvendrini Menikdiwela, signed the agreement at a ceremony held here on Tuesday.
