Jaipur, Oct 20 (PTI) Attacking the Centre over inflation, fuel price hike, unemployment and other issues, former Rajasthan deputy chief minister and Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Wednesday said the government has "cheated" the country in every sector.

Addressing a Dalit sammelan at Chaksu near Jaipur, Pilot said that in the last seven years, "the BJP government ruined the economy, unemployment reached a historic peak, petrol, diesel and LPG cylinder have become expensive and inflation skyrocketed".

Bengaluru, Oct 20 (PTI) The Karnataka High Court has held that the Muslim marriage is a contract with many shades of meaning, not a sacrament unlike a Hindu marriage and does not repel certain rights and obligations arising from its dissolution.

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Oct 19 (PTI) A 38-year-old shopkeeper was shot dead allegedly over a monetary dispute in a village here on Tuesday, police said.

Pravinder Kumar was at the shop in Phaguna village when the accused, identified only as Bhura, killed him, they said.

Villagers staged a protest following the murder, and police have launched a manhunt to nab Bhura, officials said.

In a separate incident, an unidentified dead body was found in the Luhari Khurd area under the Charthawal police station limits of the district on Tuesday, they said.

Budaun (UP), Oct 19 (PTI) An FIR was lodged on Tuesday against seven people for burning effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, police said.

The action was taken after some videos went viral on social media in which some persons were seen burning effigies of the PM and the CM, they said.

Taking note of the videos, the police have lodged an FIR against seven people have been lodged under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code for violating official orders.

The police are trying to trace the offenders.

Hyderabad, Oct 19 (PTI): Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for keeping "quiet" on the rising fuel prices and Chinese "intrusion" in Indian territory, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi here alleged that Modi is afraid of talking about China.

The Hyderabad MP also said targeted civilian killings was going on in Kashmir due to failure of the BJP-led central government.

Kochi, Oct 19 (PTI) Kerala police on Tuesday registered a case against self-styled antique dealer Monson Mavunkal, who was arrested last month in a cheating case, for allegedly sexually abusing a minor girl for the last two years.

Police registered the case under various provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and handed over the matter to the Crime Branch special investigation team which is probing all allegations against Mavunkal.

New Delhi, Oct 19 (PTI) A minor girl has alleged that she was repeatedly raped by a 19-year-old man here, police said Tuesday.

A case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at BK Road police station against the accused, Himanshu, they said.

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Oct 20 (PTI) A 16-year-old son of a temple priest was shot dead by unidentified people on Shahabuddin Road locality here, police said on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Raj Mishra and his body was sent for post mortem, Kotwali Police Station SHO Anand Dev Mishra said.

In his complaint to the police, the priest Devendra Pershad Mishra said three people had taken his son on the pretext of eating out Tuesday. His body was found later in the night.

Three people have been taken into custody for interrogation, police said.
