Islamabad, IRNA, 27 February 2024 - Pakistan’s army in a statement has called for peaceful coexistence with neighbors but warned all-time rival India that it would respond with full force to any aggression against the country
In a statement issued on Tuesday morning on the fifth anniversary of a bombing raid conducted by Indian warplanes on 27 February 2019 in Balakot, Pakistan, against an alleged terrorist training camp, IRNA correspondent reported.
February 27 marked a significant event in our history, demonstrating the resolve of the people of Pakistan and the professionalism of the Armed Forces in response to unwarranted aggression from India, motivated by political considerations and electoral concerns, the statement said.
“Despite desperate Indian attempts to favorably shape the information space, the events of that fateful day showcased absolute operational ascendance of Pakistan’s Armed Forces over the Indian side, it said.
The tensions between the two nuclear powers of South Asia, India and Pakistan, were so intense that an attack on an Indian military convoy in disputed Kashmir brought the two countries to the brink of a full-scale war.
“As a state committed to peace, we shall continue to emphasize the importance of peaceful coexistence with our neighbors. Any aggression against the people of Pakistan, our sovereignty and territorial integrity, will however be responded immediately, with full might and without any hesitation. Every single time”, the Pakistani army statement concluded.
Pakistan, which considers India as a potential and constant threat, is trying to strengthen its military power, and according to some reports, it has surpassed Indian in some fields, including nuclear weapons and advanced missiles.
Since their independence from the British colonial rule in 1947, Pakistan and India have fought three wars, with at least two on Kashmir, a Himalayan Muslim-majority region that remains a bone of contentions between the two countries.
