ISLAMABAD, Dec 19 (NNN-APP) – The Pakistani military said last night that, a cross border firing by the Indian forces, hit a vehicle of the United Nations’ military observers, near the Line of Control (LoC), in the disputed Kashmir region.
A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani army, said that, the Indian army resorted to unprovoked fire in Chirikot Sector of the LoC, on Friday morning, and “targeted a United Nations’ vehicle with two Military Observers on board,” when they were on their way to interact with victims of ceasefire violations in Pakistan-Controlled Kashmir.
According to the ISPR, the vehicle was damaged, but the two UN military observers were unharmed and were safely rescued and evacuated by the Pakistan Army, to Rawalakot region of Pakistan-Controlled Kashmir.
Pakistan and India declared ceasefire along the LoC and the working boundary in 2003. However, both sides accuse each other of violating the ceasefire.
