24 May 2021; MEMO: The Kuwait Red Crescent Society yesterday announced that its first relief plane has taken off from the Abdullah Al-Mubarak Air Base to Egypt's Cairo International Airport to deliver medical supplies to the Palestinian people in the occupied Gaza Strip.
The KRCS' chairman, Hilal Al-Sayer, told the official KUNA news agency that the move was a "translation of the keenness of the emir of Kuwait, as well as the Kuwaiti government and people, to support their brothers in Gaza."
He added that the plane was carrying "40 tons of medicines, medical supplies, blankets, and wheelchairs, accompanied by a number of volunteers who would go to the Rafah crossing and deliver them to the Palestinian Red Crescent."
Al-Sayer pointed out that the KRCS field team would visit the wounded and Palestinian families in the Egyptian border city of Al-Arish and Gaza "to provide their needs urgently".
"The KRCS has distributed food baskets and two ambulances for our brothers in Palestine over the past days," he said.
On Saturday, the Kuwaiti government said it had allocated 2,331,367 Kuwaiti dinars (more than $7.7 million) to a relief campaign for the Palestinian people.
The recent Israeli aggression had left 279 civilians dead, 69 of whom are children, 40 women, and 17 elders, according to official data. It also left several thousand injured.
