KABUL, May 17 (NNN-ANA) – Three kidnappers were killed, after personnel of General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) or the country’s counter-intelligence agency, busted a group of abductors in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, the agency said in a statement, today.
The GDI personnel rescued a hostage, who was abducted a month ago, from the kidnappers’ control, following an operation targeting the hideout of the kidnappers’ gang in Kabul, last night.
Three members of the gang were killed, after they engaged with the security forces, and their weapons and equipment were seized.
In addition, Afghan security forces arrested a 10-member gang of robbers and thieves, in Kabul early yesterday, Kabul police said in a statement.
In Afghanistan, gangs of kidnappers and outlaws often attempt to kidnap members of wealthy families and ask for ransom. The Afghan caretaker government has vowed to crack down on criminal elements in the war-torn country to ensure law and order.
