COPENHAGEN, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Under a new financial aid package, Denmark aims to increase its aid to Ukraine and its eastern neighbors from 1.2 billion Danish kroner (DKK, 174.8 million U.S. dollars) to 1.5 billion Danish kroner, the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday.
This would make Ukraine the largest recipient of Danish foreign aid for the second year in a row.
Denmark's assistance would contribute to the provision of emergency aid for victims of the conflict and also for the early reconstruction of the country, according to Dan Jorgensen, minister for development cooperation and global climate policy.
The aid would be channeled through the Ukraine Foundation, which was established in 2023 to finance civil efforts in Ukraine and its eastern neighbors.
The aid is divided into two parts. Early recovery and reconstruction aid to Ukraine would total 1.2 billion Danish kroner, and regional efforts aid would be 306 million Danish kroner.
