ISLAMABAD, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has confiscated over 420 kg drugs and arrested five suspects, said an official on Monday.
The ANF spokesperson, in a statement, detailed the successful interdiction of seven drug smuggling attempts across various regions of the country. The recovered narcotics include heroin, hashish, ice, and intoxicated tablets, which were intended for distribution across Pakistan.
In the first operation, ANF personnel intercepted a vehicle near Sher Shah in the Multan district of eastern Punjab province and seized 24 kg hashish, along with arresting a smuggler.
Additionally, the force recovered 0.8 kg highly addictive drug Ice from a parcel destined for Bahrain, which was intercepted at a courier office in Rawalpindi, a garrison city in Punjab.
Furthermore, ANF personnel seized over 25 kg hashish from a vehicle intercepted on a superhighway near Karachi, the country's southern port city.
The forces conducted two separate operations in Killa Abdullah and Panjgur districts of southwest Balochistan province and confiscated 279.2 kg hashish and 75 kg Ice, respectively.
Criminal cases under the Anti-Narcotics Act of Pakistan have been registered against the arrested suspects, added the official.
