KANPUR: Like cunning politicians, if the close relatives begin to act, emotionally the most wounded are the younger siblings, no doubt.
Such a thing happened in the families of two sisters. Elderly arranged an impromptu get together, though it was later known it was well thought out programme.
Initially, her fourth sister decided to hold a dinner on the day of Friday. It was known to the elder sister. Despite knowing of this programme, the elder sister did not feel odd to call the same relatives on the same day. She seemed to have not thought of her younger sister. The elderly sister did not even realise the problem of her meek younger sister who was feeling a bit embarrassed and uneasy as to whom she should call and whom she should leave!
Being an elder sister she did not follow a supportive role. The guests were the same and the time was also identical. The younger sister was in a tight corner. She was thinking in only one direction. How can her elder sister cheat her? But she committed the wrong.
This point was understandable to the third sister. She solaced the fourth sister by saying, "Do not feel bad for I would explain your discomfort to her."
However, it was unfortunate and worse for her as whatever items she prepared and arranged to entertain the guests were not gulpable to them as they had already filled the stomach at the elder sister's place.
"It remained a clear case of self-aggrandizement", said everyone who came to know of this matter in the vicinity. The society is changing as relatives are turning to be more political. This is surely the bane of a modern-day materialistic society where only selfishness rules over kindness, love and sisterly emotions.
