TASHKENT, Nov 26 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Uzbekistan plans to implement 52 projects worth nine billion U.S. dollars, to start deep processing of natural gas and produce value-added products, as well as, create new jobs, the press service of Uzbek president said today.
The projects, presented to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, cover inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and the production of polymers, it said.
The projects are expected to facilitate the production of goods worth 4.1 billion dollars, replace import products worth 1.1 billion dollars, ensure exports of value-added goods worth 1.45 billion dollars, and create 6,500 new jobs, it added.
One of the projects aims to set up an innovation centre that will engage in research and development of new types of polymers, and the training of specialists.
Uzbekistan produces around 60 billion cubic metres of natural gas annually, most of which are consumed domestically.
Early this year, the Uzbek government said, it would stop natural gas exports by 2025, and start its deep processing domestically, to expand the production of value-added products.
