Kanpur: Just on the Nai Chungi road in the Jajmau area, there squats the vegetable vendors on one side of the road. It is so because they find ample raised space to put their various vegetables and also adjusts themselves at the gap.
Passers-by stop to buy vegetables of their respective choices. Generally, sharp-voiced women arrange different vegetables like onions, potatoes, ladyfinger, gourd, and other varieties.
What remains worth seeing is their bitterness among one another. One woman seller does not leave a chance to criticise another woman for her bad nature. One in anger reacts that the another woman does not talk mildly. This makes consumers to shift to the next seller.
The male sellers point out they maintain a rift to attract customers for selling their stock earlier by this sort of tactics.
However the customers do not like the stern conversation and leave the bad-mouthed seller out of annoyance.
Some who turn up to buy vegetable from this particular spot do not appreciate the harsh words of the veg vendors.
It was also seen there that the clever sellers dupe the customers in weight and charging the amount excessively.
