02 July 2022; Tehran (ISNA) - Reacting to the final communiqué of the G7 summit in Germany, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani said, “We strongly condemn the parts of the final statement of the G7 leaders that are against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman added, “The statement, in accordance with the wrong habits of the countries that issued it, is unfounded, one-sided, and unjust and shows the futile insistence on failed policies that have contributed the most to destabilizing the implementation of the nuclear deal, preparing disputes in negotiations to lift sanctions, as well as creating insecurity and preventing the establishment of endogenous security arrangements in the Persian Gulf region.”
Kanaani stressed that the G7 statement deliberately ignores the gross violation of the nuclear deal and UN Security Council Resolution 2231 by the United States and the maximum illegal sanctions imposed on the honorable people of Iran.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman added, “Those who issued the statement, by continuing the policy of illegal extra-territorial sanctions against the Iranian people or inaction in the face of them, have the greatest share in creating the current conflict and continue to insist on the wrong policy in various ways and deliberately ignore the emphasis of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ban on nuclear arms and, by having the largest arsenal of nuclear weapons, escape forward and make false accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
Kanaani described the statement as a reflection of the wrong policies of those who issued it in making baseless allegations regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran’s safeguards agreement cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which was evident in their recent intentions at the IAEA Board of Governors meeting.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated that such a set of irresponsible positions and behavior of the issuers of the statement that creates tension, has posed the greatest threat to international security, while clearly they are indebted to the Islamic Republic of Iran for its tolerance in the face of the nuclear deal, because otherwise there would be no room for negotiations today, but they are deliberately turning a blind eye to this fact.
“Therefore, they are the ones who should take advantage of the numerous opportunities provided by the Islamic Republic of Iran for negotiations to make up for their wrong policies in the past, and by resorting to diplomacy and the complete lifting of sanctions, restore calm to the atmosphere of the negotiations that can yield results,” Kanaani added.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman added, “We strongly condemn the destabilizing role of the parties that issued the statement in the Persian Gulf region, and it is necessary that they, instead of leveling false accusations against Iran’s legitimate missile defense program which can never be negotiated or compromised, be held accountable for the sales of billions of dollar worth of advanced weapons, which is one of the most important causes of instability in our region.”
Condemning the political, instrumental and selective use of human rights by the countries that issued the statement, Kanaani added, “The claimants of human rights are those who turn a blind eye to the gross violation of the rights of more than 80 million Iranians by imposing maximum illegal sanctions and killing defenseless people in Palestine and Yemen, and were it not for the double standards of these countries on terrorism and their support for the backers of Daesh and other terrorist groups, our region would not have faced such a large amount of bloodshed and killing of innocent people in Iraq and Syria.”
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added, “Currently, a number of Iranian citizens have been illegally and arbitrarily taken hostage, detained, and tried in Western countries under various fake sanctions or non-sanctions pretexts, but the statement seeks to hide the fact thought a blame game. The Islamic Republic of Iran holds this group of countries responsible and reserves the right to pursue the rights of this group of fellow citizens and demand compensation for them.”
Kanaani added, “The Islamic Republic of Iran, as it has shown in the continuation of its wise policy, emphasizes pursuing diplomacy in the negotiations for lifting of sanctions and is in favor of a good and strong agreement compatible with the legitimate interests of the Iranian people. The Islamic Republic of Iran also emphasizes the neighborhood policy, which aims at creating and promoting endogenous stability, security and prosperity, collectively and without any foreign intervention or presence, and it does not need to persuade the issuers of the statement to pursue these policies.”
“We call on the countries that issued the statement to refrain from their actions that create tension and are constantly narrowing the space for regional and international peace and security,” the spokesman stressed.
Kanaani concluded, “Obviously, such statements with politically ill intentions will not make Iran abandon its rightful positions and principles”.
