BAGHDAD, Aug 17 (NNN-NINA) – Iraqi Minister of Finance, Ali Abdul-Amir Allawi, resigned yesterday, amid a rampant political row in the country, the government said.
Prime Minister, Mustafa al-Kadhimi, accepted the resignation and immediately assigned Oil Minister, Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail, as acting finance minister, Hassan Nadhim, the government spokesman, told a televised press conference, after the cabinet meeting.
Nadhim said, the reason Allawi explained for his resignation was that, “the government is constrained by the rampant conflict between the political parties, that affected the implementation of reforms.”
Allawi’s resignation came, amid a profound dispute among the political parties, that has paralysed the government and led to an impasse in new government formation, since the parliamentary elections on Oct 10, 2021.
