ISLAMABAD, Apr 7 (NNN-APP) – Pakistan’s top intelligence agency, successfully arrested founder and leader of the terrorist organisation, Baloch National Army (BNA), the military said, today.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan army, said in a statement that, the intelligence agency apprehended the high-value target named, Gulzar Imam alias Shambay, a hardcore militant, involved in activities in the country’s south-west Balochistan province.
“BNA had been responsible for dozens of violent terrorist attacks, including attacks on law enforcement agencies,” said the ISPR, saying that, the arrested terrorist also remained an important part of the Baloch Republican Army, until 2018.
The military added that, the arrest of Imam is a serious blow to the BNA, as well as, other militant groups, which have been attempting to destabilise the hard-earned peace in Balochistan.
“Apprehension of a militant leader of this stature, demonstrates the capability and resolve of law enforcement agencies, to uproot the menace of terrorism, as well as, speaks volumes about the successes garnered through supreme sacrifices of unsung heroes,” added the ISPR.
