BAGHDAD, May 26 (NNN-NINA) – Iraqi political leaders, met yesterday, with visiting Czech Foreign Minister, Jan Lipavsky, to discuss bilateral ties and economic cooperation.
During a meeting with a delegation led by Lipavsky, Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani, lauded the Czech role in supporting efforts of the Iraqi security forces, in combatting terrorism, the media office of the prime minister said, in a statement.
Al-Sudani also discussed with Lipavsky the means “to promote cooperation in the fields of agriculture, energy, health, air transport, and scholarships, as well as, ways to increase trade volume between Iraq and the Czech Republic,” the statement said.
For his part, Lipavsky said, a delegation of businessmen and representatives of 20 Czech companies are currently in Iraq, to discuss opportunities for economic cooperation, according to the statement.
Lipavsky extended a visit invitation from the Czech president, to al-Sudani, to further strengthen bilateral relations, said the statement.
During his visit, Lipavsky also met with Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, where the two sides discussed bilateral relations and the need to enhance cooperation and coordination in various fields, particularly in commercial, economic, and industrial sectors, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi presidency.
