ISLAMABAD, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces conducted two separate operations in different areas of the country late Wednesday night and killed 10 terrorists, local media and security sources said on Thursday morning.

A security official seeking anonymity told Xinhua that two soldiers also lost their lives in one of the two operations.

Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation on the presence of terrorists in Datta Khel area of North Waziristan tribal district in the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

ISLAMABAD, Jan 29 (APP): The British High Commissioner Dr Christian Turner on Wednesday expressed his government’s interest to collaborate with the ministry of climate change to tackle environmental threats to the region.

Dr Turner called on Adviser to the prime minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam here, said a press release issue here.

During the meeting, the British High Commissioner told Malik Amin Aslam that the UK government was seriously interested to help Pakistan boost its climate resilience against negative fall outs of the global warming.

ISLAMABAD, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan "temporarily" closed Torkham, one of its major border crossings with Afghanistan over "security concerns" on Wednesday, officials said.

Aisha Farooqui, spokesperson of the Pakistan Foreign Ministry, said the decision was taken hours after two mortars fired from Afghanistan landed on the Pakistani side of the border on Wednesday morning, according to Pakistani TV channels.

She said there was no casualty in the incident at Torkham, the busiest crossing between the two countries in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

ISLAMABAD, Jan 28 (APP): Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Tuesday said recent tweet of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani was an interference in the internal affairs of Pakistan and contrary to diplomatic norms.

In a tweet, she said Afghan leadership should keep in mind the principles of non-interference in international relations while issuing such statements.

ISLAMABAD, Jan 27 (NNN-APP) – A woman was killed and five others injured, after a vehicle of the U.S. embassy in Pakistan, hit a car in the capital, Islamabad, an official of the Islamabad Traffic Police said, Sunday.

Farrukh Rashid, senior superintendent of the Islamabad Traffic Police, said, the accident happened on the Margalla road, when the over-speeding vehicle of the U.S. embassy hit the car from behind, killing a woman on the spot, while wounding five others.

ISLAMABAD, Jan 22 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan has thanked President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on his country’s support as a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir.

Imran Khan expressed these views in his meeting with President Aliyev on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting at Davos, Switzerland, a PM Office statement said issued here on Wednesday.

“The two leaders discussed the whole spectrum of bilateral relations that are marked by mutual trust and support,” the statement mentioned.

ISLAMABAD, Jan 21 (APP): Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred two Kashmir youth in Pulwama district, today, in Indian occupied Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the youth were killed during a cordon and search operation led by Indian central Reserve police Force, Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operation Group of Indian army in Awanitpora area of the district. With the latest killing, the number of martyred youth during the past 48 eight hours has risen to 5. The troops killed three youth in Shopian district, yesterday.

ISLAMABAD, Jan 20 (APP): Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed Monday expressed serious concern over the silence of international community on Indian brutalities in Kashmir valley says the Indian government was committing unprecedented brutalities in Kashmir but sadly the international community remains a silent spectator.

Talking to private news channel, he called for resolving the Kashmir dispute in lines with the UN Security Council’s resolutions, and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

Islamabad, Jan 16 (PTI) Pakistan's self-exiled former dictator Pervez Musharraf on Thursday approached the Supreme Court to challenge the ruling of a special court that had handed him death sentence on charges of high treason.

The special court in Islamabad on December 17 last handed down the death penalty to the 74-year-old retired general, now based in Dubai, after six years of hearing the high-profile treason case against him.
