Rising heat drives crippling sandstorms across the Middle East

06 July 2022; MEMO: Over the past two months, Iraqis have been living, working and breathing in thick clouds of dust, as at least nine sandstorms – lasting up to several days each – have hit the country, blanketing everything in grit.

Iraq Exported 101 Million Barrels Of Crude Oil In June

BAGHDAD, Jul 2 (NNN-NINA) – Iraq exported 101.19 million barrels of crude oil in Jun, bringing in revenues worth 11.5 billion U.S. dollars, said the Iraqi Oil Ministry, yesterday.

The average price for crude oil in Jun was 113.7 dollars per barrel, according to a ministry statement, citing statistics from the State Organisation for Marketing of Oil.

Iraq Called On Int’l Community To Help It Fight Climate Change

BAGHDAD, Jun 30 (NNN-NINA) – The Iraqi Environment Ministry, yesterday, called on the international community, to help Iraq meet the challenges of climate change.

“The Iraqi people went through difficult political and economic conditions, during the past decades. It is expected that climate change will exacerbate the sufferings,” Environment Minister, Jassim Al-Falahi, was quoted as saying.

Al-Falahi pointed out that, the needed international support will help Iraq adapt to climate change, in the context of economic change.

Iraqi PM to head to Saudi Arabia, Iran for new dialogue

BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraq’s caretaker prime minister is set to fly to Saudi Arabia, followed by Iran, carrying a new initiative aimed at renewing talks between the two regional arch foes, an official said Saturday.

The official said Mustafa al-Kadhimi was scheduled to travel to Riyadh later in the day for meetings with Saudi officials. He will then travel to Tehran on Sunday.

Iraq To Raise Oil Production To Eight Million Bpd By 2027

BAGHDAD, Jun 20 (NNN-NINA) – Iraq seeks to raise its crude oil production to eight million barrels per day (bpd) by the end of 2027, to fulfil its commitment to export quota, within the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Iraqi Oil Minister, Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail, said yesterday.

“Iraq is working to increase its capabilities, to raise its oil production capacity, and we have large projects to increase production, and we are committed to reaching the peak production of eight million bpd by the end of 2027,” Ismail told reporters.
