CHISINAU, October 30. /TASS/: A price for the Russian natural gas supplies to Moldova under a new contract with Russia’s energy giant Gazprom is likely to hike to $500-600 per 1,000 cubic meters, a source close to the situation told TASS on Saturday.

Gazprom announced late on Friday night that a contract on Russia’s natural gas supplies to Moldova was renewed for a five-year term starting on November 1.

CHISINAU, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Moldova's pro-western president Maia Sandu appointed an acting prosecutor general on Wednesday a day after the previous holder was suspended and detained.

Sandu, who came to power last year promising to tackle entrenched corruption, said the removal of Alexandru Stoianoglo was needed to meet Moldovans' hopes for justice.

CHISINAU, September 23./TASS/: The leader of the unrecognized republic of Transnistria, Vadim Krasnoselsky, believes the peacekeeping mission under Russia’s auspices has no alternative, his press service said on Thursday after Krasnoselsky met with Deputy Speaker of the Russian Federation Council (upper house) Konstantin Kosachev in Moscow.

CHISINAU, August 9. /TASS/: The Moldovan government has recalled its Ambassador to Russia Vladimir Golovatiuc.

"The proposal to recall Vladimir Golovatiuc from the post of ambassador to Russia is approved," Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said at a government meeting on Monday.

Earlier, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry told TASS that the move was prompted exclusively by Golovatiuc’s work and not the relations between the two countries.

CHISINAU, July 30. /TASS/: Moldovan President Maia Sandu has signed an order nominating Natalia Gavrilitsa for the post of Prime Minister.

"Mrs. Natalia Gavrilitsa has been appointed as a candidate for Prime Minister," reads the document, published on the president’s website.

According to the presidential order, Gavrilitsa must submit the program and composition of the new Cabinet for approval by parliament.

Chisinau (Moldova), Jul 12 (AP-PTI) A pro-reform party seeking closer ties for Moldova with the European Union has won a clear majority in the parliamentary election, electoral commission results show Monday.

Sunday's election was called by President Maia Sandu, who sought to gain a parliament made up of pro-EU reformists in the former Soviet republic.

CHISINAU, November 16. /TASS/: Maia Sandu has won Moldova’s presidential election with 57.75% of the vote, while Igor Dodon gained 42.25% with 100% of ballots counted, according to the country’s Central Election Commission.

According to data published on the commission’s website, voter turnout was 52.78%.

Moldova held the second round of its presidential election on Sunday. The run-off pit leader of the pro-EU Party of Action and Solidarity Maia Sandu against incumbent President Igor Dodon.

CHISINAU (Reuters) - Moldovan voters will decide on Sunday whether to give pro-Moscow President Igor Dodon four more years in office or hand power to Maia Sandu, a former prime minister who favours closer ties with the European Union.

The central election commission said voting began in more than 2,000 polling stations in the country and abroad.

CHISINAU, July 25. /TASS/: Moldovan President Igor Dodon sees no grounds for mass riots, similar to the April 2009 events when pro-European party supporters stormed the country’s parliament.

"Any ‘revolution’ of this kind should have external support," Dodon said, answering to a TASS question during a news conference in his country residence of Condrita on Friday.

CHISINAU, July 8. /TASS/: Conditions haven't been created yet for the withdrawal of the Operational Group of Russian Forces (OGRF) from Transnistria, Russian Ambassador to Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov said in an interview with TASS.

"Responsible politicians in Chisinau understand that calls for the withdrawal of the OGRF are premature. About 1,500 Russian troops, who facilitate peacekeeping activities and guard warehouses containing outdated ammunition in Transnistria, cannot be pulled out with a wave of a magic wand," Vasnetsov pointed out.
