ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Pakistan International Airlines, the Islamic nation’s flag carrier, will not appeal against a six-month ban imposed on its lucrative flights to European locations, three officials said, in a blow to the ailing airline’s pre-pandemic turnaround plans.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) banned PIA from flying to the bloc in June over safety concerns, days after the country grounded dozens of its pilots over allegedly dubious qualifications.

ISLAMABAD, Sep 3 (APP): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Thursday said Pakistan had conveyed its concern to the government of France over republishing of blasphemous caricatures by a Paris-based magazine.

“Pakistan believes in freedom of expression, however such liberty does not mean to have a license to hurt religious sentiments of others,” the Foreign Minister said in a video message, in response to the growing trend of Islamophobia world over.

ISLAMABAD, Sep 1 (APP): Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi Tuesday said that India was committing worst kind of atrocities, tyranny and violence against the innocent people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which also exposed its sham claims over religious tolerance.

In a press statement, the foreign minister said the Muharram processions in IIOJK were not allowed and later, the participants were subjected to violence and arrested. Pellet guns were also used against the mourners.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 30 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan Sunday said that the brave Kashmiris who were fighting against the worst form of military oppression and tyranny should be inspired by Karbala to stay steadfast in their courage.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 30 (APP): Indian troops while using enforced disappearance as a strategy to spread terror, subjected thousands of Kashmiris to custodial disappearance in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) during last thirty years.

According to a report released by Kashmir Media Service on Sunday, on the occasion of the International Day of Disappeared, being the most militarized zone in the world, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed killings, enforced disappearances, torture cases, rapes and other brutalities by the Indian forces over decades.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): A 4.5 magnitude earthquake jolted parts of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Mianwali and surrounding areas on Friday (today).

According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the magnitude of the quake was recorded at 4.5 with a depth of 24 kilometers. Its epicenter was in Fateh Jang, electronic channels reported.

People experiencing the tremors ran out of their homes and workplaces in panic.

No loss of life and property was reported.

ISLAMABAD, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- A delegation of the political representatives of the Afghan Taliban met Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Islamabad on Tuesday and discussed progress in the Afghan peace process and the early start of intra-Afghan negotiations, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan said.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (APP): Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Monday said Pakistan and China would “act collectively to protect mutual strategic interests” and vowed to continue the CPEC project (China Pakistan Economic Corridor) despite criticism.

“Our strategic compass is set in right direction and joint efforts would be made to promote peace, development and prosperity in the region,” the Foreign Minister said at a press conference, held here at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 25 (APP): Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Huawei Mark Meng called on the Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood at his office and discussed issues of bilateral and mutual interest.

Both sides exchanged views on 5G Technology, different training programmes and collaboration in different areas of Ministry of Education, says a press release issued here on Tuesday.

Huawei is working with HEC to establish 24 Haina labs for training purpose, DWDM networking, video conferencing for 150 universities and smart classrooms project.
