ISLAMABAD, Jul 11 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday directed the Railways Minister to take emergency measures to improve decades old infrastructure of railways to avert train accidents.

The direction came in response to a fatal train accident between a passenger train and a goods train in Sadiqabad, resulting in loss of several lives and injuries.

ISLAMABAD, July 11 (Xinhua) -- At least six passengers were killed and dozens injured when a passenger train collided with a freight train in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab city, local media reported Thursday.

The death toll is feared to go up as some of those injured in the crash are in critical condition.

ISLAMABAD, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Wednesday that the country is seeking local and foreign investments to establish more and more industries to increase the country's income and create employment opportunities.

The prime minister expressed the views during his talk to media persons after meeting with a group of businesspersons and industrialists in the country's southern port city of Karachi.

ISLAMABAD, Jul 10 (APP): The Foreign Office on Wednesday said it was in close contact with the United States regarding the visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to Washington D.C.

“We wish to caution against speculation about PM’s visit. We are in close contact with the U.S. side,” Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal said in a tweet.

The FO spokesman said it was a norm to make announcements about high-level visits at an appropriate time.
“As per practice, formal announcements are made at the appropriate time,” he said.

Islamabad, Jul 10 (PTI) Jailed former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz has been summoned by an anti-corruption court to appear before it on July 19 for allegedly submitting a fake trust deed in the high-profile Avenfield Apartments case.

The Avenfield properties case was one of three filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) last year in light of the Supreme Court's verdict against Sharif in the Panama Papers case.

The case pertains to the ownership of the Sharif family's apartments at Avenfield House, London.

ISLAMABAD, Jul 9 (APP): Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tuesday said Pakistan would continue to play constructive role in association with the Commonwealth in social and political domains.

“Pakistan has made significant contribution with the Commonwealth and would continue to do so in future as well,” Qureshi told reporters here before leaving for London to participate in the meeting of 19th Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers’ Meeting.

ISLAMABAD, Jul 08 (APP): Pakistan team will be featuring in the Asian Throwball Championship scheduled to be held in Malaysia from August 28.

According to Asian Throwball Federation (ATF) Secretary Maqbool Arian the championship would continue till September 3.

4 July 2019; AFP: The International Monetary Fund on Wednesday approved a $6 billion, three-year loan for Pakistan to help right the South Asian nation's economy.

With the IMF board's approval, the fund released $1 billion to Pakistan immediately and will unlock from other international partners around $38 billion over the program period.

ISLAMABAD, Jul 4 (APP): Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection would establish a special committee which will be conducting weekly basis meetings to focus on orphans,widows,child labor,and extreme poor of the society.

Talking to APP, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection Dr Sania Nishtar said,”The committee should take the initiative in chalking out the standards to run orphanages and children homes, keeping in view the national and international standards of care.
