ISLAMABAD, April 20 (Reuters) - Pakistan has placed its first order for discounted Russian crude oil under a deal struck between Islamabad and Moscow, the country's petroleum minister said, with one cargo to dock at the port of Karachi in May.

Pakistan's purchase gives Russia a new outlet, adding to Moscow's growing sales to India and China, as it redirects oil from western markets because of the Ukraine conflict.

Peshawar/Beijing, Apr 18 (PTI) An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan has sent a Chinese national to jail on a 14-day judicial remand on blasphemy charges in the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province after he was arrested on Monday, media reports said on Tuesday.

The police arrested the Chinese national identified as Tian on Sunday and on Monday he was shifted to Abbottabad via an Army helicopter due to security concerns as the police feared local people could harm him.

Two dead after landslide at Pakistan-Afghanistan border crossing

LANDI KOTAL (Pakistan), April 18 (NNN-AGENCIES) — At least two people were killed and eight injured in a massive pre-dawn landslide that buried dozens of trucks waiting to cross from Pakistan to Afghanistan, officials said
Tuesday.

The landslide struck Torkham border post, the busiest and most important transit point for trade between the two countries, as more than 120 trucks were waiting to cross.

“We have recovered two bodies and have taken eight injured to hospital,” Bilal Faizi, a spokesman for the Rescue 1122 emergency service, said.

Chinese national arrested in Pakistan on blasphemy charges

Islamabad/Peshawar, Apr 17 (PTI) Pakistani police have arrested a Chinese national working at a hydropower project in the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province after local people accused him of blasphemy, police said.

Traffic collision kills 7 police officers in Pakistan’s SW

ISLAMABAD (AP) — A head-on traffic collision in Pakistan’s southwest killed seven police officers who were returning home for the Eid holidays, an official said.

They died at the scene of the crash on a national highway in the Khuzdar area of Baluchistan province on Saturday night, according to police official Fahad Khoso.

Khoso said the collision was between the officers’ vehicle and a truck. The seven men had finished a course at police training college.

UAE approves additional USD 1 billion funding to Pakistan

Lahore, Apr 14 (PTI) Pakistan’s ousted prime minister Imran Khan on Friday appeared before the Lahore High Court (LHC) and secured protective bail till April 26 in a case related to using "inappropriate language" against senior Army officers.

Islamabad police had booked Khan, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief, on April 6 for making a speech in which he allegedly used “inappropriate language against the senior military (Inter-Services Intelligence) officers” and put the lives of their families at risk.
