ISLAMABAD, Sept 7 (NNN-APP) – Four Pakistani soldiers and 12 terrorists were killed, in a clash between government security forces and the terrorists, in Pakistan’s north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, yesterday, a military statement said.

The clash occurred in Chitral district, where a group of terrorists, equipped with the latest weapons attacked two Pakistani military posts, located closer to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, in the statement.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan’s caretaker prime minister claimed on Monday that U.S. military equipment left behind during the American withdrawal from Afghanistan has fallen into militant hands and ultimately made its way to the Pakistani Taliban.

The equipment — which includes a wide variety of items, from night vision goggles to firearms — is now “emerging as a new challenge” for Islamabad as it has enhanced the fighting capabilities of the Pakistani Taliban, Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar said.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistani traders on Saturday went on strike against the soaring cost of living, including higher fuel and utility bills and record depreciation of the rupee against the dollar, which has led to widespread discontent among the public.

The traders pulled their shutters down across the country, while protesters burned tires on roads to express their anger.

He expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan-EU ties and lauded recent progress made in this regard.

31 August 2023; MEMO: A Pakistani court yesterday extended the judicial remand of the country’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan for another 14 days in a case in which he is accused of “exposing state secrets”, court records show.

The hearing was held at a prison in the northeastern Attock district – where Khan is currently being held – for “security reasons”.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 29 (APP): Health officials on Tuesday said that 76 new coronavirus cases were reported during the last week across the country.

As per the data shared by the National Institute of Health (NIH), the case positivity ratio was 0.82 per cent while two patients were in critical condition.

No death was reported from the coronavirus last week while 9,318 Covid-19 tests were conducted.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 29 (Reuters) - A Pakistani high court on Tuesday suspended jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan's sentence on corruption charges, but he will remain behind bars as a judge had already ordered his detention in another case.

The 70-year-old former cricket star has been at the centre of a political crisis since he was ousted in a parliamentary vote of confidence in April 2022. The worst economic conditions in Pakistan in decades have compounded the crisis.
