SINGAPORE, Jan 23 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Flight operations at Singapore’s  Changi Airport were disrupted at 12.10 am Thursday due to evacuation at the Changi Control Tower.

According to  the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), the Tower had to be evacuated as the fire suppression system was activated.

CAAS said flight operations were restored at 1.40 am when Changi Control Tower resumed operations.

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Oil prices fell nearly 1% on Tuesday as investors expected Libya’s oil production to eventually resume following a force majeure declared by the oil exporter on two major oilfields amid a military blockade.

Brent crude LCOc1 was down 56 cents, or nearly 0.9%, at $64.64 per barrel by 0748 GMT, after rising to its highest in more than a week on Monday. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude CLc1 was down 35 cents, or 0.6%, at $58.19 a barrel.

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Oil prices steadied on Tuesday, after recent declines, as investors focused on the signing of a preliminary trade deal between the United States and China, the world’s top oil consumers, and on expectations of a drawdown in U.S. stockpiles.

However, price gains were capped by receding Middle East tensions, with both Tehran and Washington desisting from any further escalation after this month’s clashes.

SINGAPORE, Jan 10 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Malaysia and Singapore are committed to concluding the agreement on the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link project by April this year.

This was disclosed by Malaysia’s Transport Minister Anthony Loke in his official Facebook page today.

Loke was here in Singapore visiting his counterpart Khaw Boon Wan.

SINGAPORE, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- Singapore has benefited enormously from globalisation and it must resist the temptation to turn inwards, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has said.

Lee made the remarks in his New Year Message on Tuesday. He also noted that the state of the world worries Singaporeans as the global slowdown has affected the economy.

Many societies are under stress despite economic growth as the fruits of economic growth have not been shared equitably, with income gaps widening, he said.

SINGAPORE, Dec 26 (NNN-CNA) – Singapore Economic Development Board announced today (Thursday) that the country’s manufacturing output declined 9.3 percent year on year in Nov, compared to a revised 3.6 percent increase in Oct.

Excluding biomedical manufacturing, the output decreased nine percent year on year in Nov, compared to a revised 0.3 percent decrease in the previous month.

Meanwhile, on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, Singapore’s manufacturing output decreased 9.4 percent in Nov. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, the output fell 8.4 percent.

SINGAPORE, Dec 23 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Two Malaysian men were arrested for bringing in four bottles of brown liquid, believed to be Kratom on Dec 10 at Jurong Port, according to Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

In its Facebook page Sunday, ICA said its officers discovered the bottles in a Malaysia-registered lorry conveying metal beams.

“Two other bottles containing remnants of a similar liquid were also found. The bottles were hidden beneath and behind the driver’s seat,” it said.

Singapore, 6 Dec (PTI) A 22-year-old Indian-origin man has been jailed for one year and a week and fined 30,000 Singapore dollars for soliciting more than 3,000 clients for a pimp in Singapore, according to a media report on Friday.

Ashok Kumar Manogaran, 22, who is accused of soliciting 3,360 clients, was jailed on Wednesday.

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - U.S. oil prices fell for the second straight day on Tuesday amid market jitters over limited progress between China and the United States on rolling back trade tariffs, while expectations of a rise in U.S. inventories also jangled nerves.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude CLc1 dropped 32 cents or 0.56% to $56.73 a barrel by 0803 GMT, slipping further away from an eight-week high hit last Friday when hopes for the trade deal rose.

Brent crude futures LCOc1 were down 26 cents, or 0.42%, at $62.18 a barrel.
