WASHINGTON (AP) — Two U.S. soldiers in a remote area of Texas were confronted by Mexican soldiers who thought the Americans had crossed into Mexico, U.S. officials said Tuesday. The Mexican troops reportedly removed a weapon from the American soldier who was armed.

U.S. Northern Command, which manages military support for Customs and Border Protection, said the Americans were in a CBP vehicle in a remote area in the vicinity of Clint, Texas.

HOUSTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has warned that Central American families are staging an “invasion” at the U.S.-Mexico border. He has threatened to take migrants to Democratic strongholds to punish political opponents. And his administration regularly complains about having to “catch and release” migrants.

At the same time, his administration has stopped using one of three family detention centers to hold parents and children and left almost 2,000 beds unused at the other two. It says it does not have the resources to transport migrants to the centers.

HOUSTON, April 2 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and at least two others injured after a heavy fire broke out Tuesday at a chemical plant in the U.S. state of Texas, and an investigation is underway, according to local authorities.

Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Houston Region Office has dispatched emergency response personnel to conduct an initial assessment of the fire at a KMCO plant in Crosby, about 40 km northeast of Houston.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Recordings of several 911 calls made after a series of deadly package bombings in Austin last year show the chaos and panic that gripped the city.

In one 911 call after the first bomb detonated March 2, 2018, relatives, neighbors and first responders struggled to discern what happened after a packaged exploded in the hands of Anthony Stephan House, 39.

“I don’t know what is going on,” a 911 caller reported. “My neighbor, something exploded. There is blood everywhere. We need an ambulance immediately.”
