Aviation regulator DGCA starts probe into Rahul Gandhi plane incident

New Delhi, Apr 26 (PTI) Aviation regulator DGCA has initiated a probe into the incident of the plane carrying Congress President Rahul Gandhi suffering engine trouble, a senior official said.

The plane on way to Patna was forced to return to Delhi on Friday after experiencing "engine trouble".

The senior Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) official said the Hawker 850 XP aircraft VT-KNB returned back to Delhi after take-off due to a technical snag.

Indian EC not letting state government discharge its duties: Andhra CM

New Delhi, Apr 26 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu Friday accused the Election Commission of usurping the powers of his government and preventing it from discharging its duties.

In a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora, he said the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Andhra Pradesh had reportedly told the media that the chief minister does not have the power to conduct review meetings as the model code of conduct is in force.

Hyderabad, Apr 25 (PTI): In a security lapse, a state-owned transport corportion bus parked in the central bus stand here was found missing, corportion officials said Thursday.

The 'Metro Express' bus of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation's Kushaiguda depot was parked at the central bus stand Tuesday night by its driver and found missing Wednesday morning when he returned for duty, they said.

India: Cell-based meat programme gets Central govt funding

Hyderabad, Apr 25 (PTI) The Central government has decided to fund the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) here and the National Research Centre on Meat for research on cell-based meat.

"Now, the government has decided to support this clean meat programme through a project. It's a short-term project.

It will be implemented jointly by CCMB and NRC which is an ICAR institute," CCMB director Rakesh Mishra told reporters here Thursday.

India: History-sheeter held for sexual abuse of school girl

Chennai, Apr 26 (PTI) A 20-year old history-sheeter has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl, police said here Friday.

Yashwanthraj was held Thursday for allegedly impregnating the 17-year old Class XI student by promising to marry her, the police said.

Based on her mother's complaint, all-woman police arrested him and a probe revealed he was a history-sheeter.

He was produced before a court and remanded in custody, they added.
