Only one musk deer in India's zoos

Noida (UP), Mar 7 (PTI) Only one musk deer is present across zoos in the country, according to a response obtained under the Right to Information Act.

The Central Zoo Authority, under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoECC), stated that the lone male musk deer was in a zoo in Himachal Pradesh.

A Noida-based RTI activist had sought details on the population of musk deers across states in the country, both in zoos as well as in the wild. He had also asked statistics related to the poaching of the wild species, if any.

Bhopal, Mar 7 (PTI) The NDAgovernment should clear the air over the last month's aerial strike on a terrorist camp in Pakistan to put to rest all "doubts and suspicions" over the operation, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath said Thursday.

He said details related to the February 26 aerial strike by the Indian Air Force on a terror camp run by the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) at Balakot in Pakistan should be made public.

Delhi to get 884 acres wildlife safari park

New Delhi, Mar 6 (PTI) Delhiites will get to experience wildlife safari soon, with the central government Thursday saying a city forest or eco park will be developed at the closed site of Badarpur Thermal Power Station at a cost of Rs 343 crore.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said the city forest will be provided with unique herbivore and carnivore safari.

Talking to reporters here, Puri said the ecological project will be spread across 884 acres at the closed site of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) in Badarpur.

NCP urges Congress to ally with AAP in Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 7 (PTI) The NCP appealed to the Congress on Thursday to ally with the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi to avoid division of votes that could help the BJP in the coming Lok Sabha election.

Its appeal came hours after Congress president Rahul Gandhi said the party's alliances across the country were "on track" but its Delhi unit was unanimously against any tie-up with AAP, which has been insisting on a pre-poll tie-up with the Congress in the national capital.

Pakistani prisoner dies in Indian hospital

Bhuj, Mar 7 (PTI) An ailing Pakistani prisoner died at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital Thursday during treatment, said police.

The prisoner, Mohammad Anin Chaudhary, a resident of Karachi, was lodged at Palara jail near Bhuj town of Kutch district since 2017.

The 66-year-old was arrested by the Jakhau police of Kutch district on charges of illegally crossing the Indo-Pak border in the creek area for fishing, said officials.

India: Two poisoned to die in Bihar police custody

Sitamarhi (Bihar), Mar 7 (PTI) Eight police personnel here were on Thursday placed under suspension in connection with the death of two persons inside a lock-up at a police station.

According to Superintendent of Police, Sitamarhi, Chandrabhushan Kumar Singh, the SHO of Dumra police station and seven other police personnel have been placed under suspension. A team has been constituted to inquire into the death of Mohd Tasleem and Mohd Gurfan.

India: Mamata demands probe into Rafale files theft

Kolkata, Mar 7 (PTI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Thursday said the theft of Rafale files from the Union Ministry of Defence was a matter of concern and demanded an enquiry into it.

She also sought the central government's version about the theft and asked who was the 'chhuppa rustam' (hidden person) behind this act.

In a tweet in Hindi, Banerjee, also the Trinamool Congress supremo, described the entire matter as 'tamasha' (farce) and hinted that its fallout would be known after the Lok Sabha elections.
