Maha FDA cancels Johnson & Johnson's baby powder manufacturing licence

Mumbai, Sep 16 (PTI) Maharashtra's Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) on Friday cancelled the baby powder manufacturing licence of Johnson & Johnson Pvt Ltd "in the interest of public health at large".

In a release, the state government agency said the company's product, Johnson's Baby Powder, may affect the skin of newborn babies.

Samples of the powder for babies did not conform to standard pH value during a laboratory test, the regulator said.

India: Due to quality education provided in Delhi govt schools, 1,141 students cleared JEE, NEET: Kejriwal

New Delhi, Sep 16 (PTI) Due to quality education provided in Delhi government schools, 1,141 students have cleared JEE and NEET examinations, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Friday.

He was addressing an event organised to felicitate toppers of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) at the Thyagaraj Stadium here.

Kejriwal said 18 crore children study in government schools across the country and most of these schools are in poor state.

India: Jajmau tanneries shut down as dirty water falls into river

Kanpur: All 213 tanneries in Jajmau have been closed with immediate effect after the irrigation channel of the purification plant broke down. This decision has been initiated to save the Ganga from polluted water.

This closure of tanneries will continue till further orders. Violation of closure order will cause registering of FIR and seizure.

The gate of the irrigation channel was shattered on the night of Thursday and Friday. The water started going to the river.

India’s Daily COVID-19 Caseload Decreased To 6,298

NEW DELHI, Sept 16 (NNN-PTI) – India’s daily COVID-19 caseload, today decreased to 6,298, according to the federal health ministry data, released today.

It marked a decrease, in comparison to the daily caseload of 6,422 yesterday.

With the new cases, India’s active caseload currently stands at 46,748, while the total tally is 44,522,777 in the country.

The country also logged 23 related deaths during the past 24 hours, taking the overall deaths to 528,273, since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.

India: NGT directs UP govt to pay Rs 100 crore for improper liquid waste management

New Delhi, Sep 16 (PTI) The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to pay Rs 100 crore for improper management of liquid waste in the districts of Pratapgarh, Raebareli, and Jaunpur.

A bench headed by chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel said that as per the report of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), bio-remediation was not resulting in the reduction of pollution load.

Military-technical cooperation between India, Russia developing steadily, ambassador says

"Our cooperation in this area is steadily progressing in accordance with the new requirements," he told TASS in an interview. "We see in them many opportunities for expanding the practice of joint production and advanced research and development."

India Reported 5,108 New COVID-19 Cases

NEW DELHI, Sept 14 (NNN-PTI) – India recorded 5,108 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 44,510,057, showed the federal health ministry’s data, released today.

With the reporting of fresh cases, India’s active caseload currently stands at 45,749.

The country also logged 31 more COVID-19 related deaths, in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 528,216, since the beginning of the pandemic, the health ministry said.
