NATO Seeks To Increase Cooperation With Gulf Countries

KUWAIT, Dec 17 (NNN-XINHUA) – NATO secretary general, said that, NATO seeks to increase cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Jens Stoltenberg made the remarks, during the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) held in Kuwait City.

During the 70 years since its establishment, NATO has never experienced such a complex security environment as it does today, Stoltenberg said.

Kuwait Launches Beach Cleaning Campaign

KUWAIT, Dec 15 (NNN-XINHUA) – Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), launched on Saturday, a campaign to clean the country’s beach.

Themed “We Lead the Change,” the campaign called on people, to clean the shore of Al-Sabah Medical Area, in Kuwait City, where dozens of volunteers, including those with disabilities, participated in collecting trash, plastics and steel scraps left on the shore.

Kuwait: Gulf states to reconcile next week

02 Dec 2019; MEMO: Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Sabah revealed yesterday the date Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE with reconcile with Qatar, the Anadolu Agency reported.

Al Sabah said that this would take place at the Gulf state summit in Riyadh on 10 December.

He noted: “This summit will be a very important station for the reconciliation.”

For the second consecutive year, Saudi Arabia hosts the summit of Gulf states.

UK Prince William In Kuwait As Part Of Gulf Trip

KUWAIT, Dec 2 (NNN-KUNA) – British Prince William, arrived in Kuwaiti City, Sunday evening, as part of his first official trip to Kuwait and Oman.

Minister of Kuwaiti Royal Affairs, Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al Sabah, and his deputy, Sheikh Mohammad Al Sabah, welcomed the British royal upon his arrival.

The Duke of Cambridge’s visit to Kuwait comes, on the 120th anniversary of the signing of a friendship treaty between Kuwait and Britain.

Kuwait Performs First Successful Heart Transplant

KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait, Nov 27 (NNN-XINHUA) – Kuwait has successfully conducted the country’s first heart transplant surgery, Kuwaiti Minister of Health, Bassel Al-Sabah, said, Tuesday.

The first heart transplant surgery was performed at the Salman Al-Dabbous Heart Centre, of Adan Hospital, Al-Sabah said, hailing it a milestone achievement.

The surgery was conducted on a patient, who suffered from severe heart failure, he noted, adding, the heart was transferred from a dead woman.

Kuwait Condemns Israeli Deadly Raids On Gaza

KUWAIT, Nov 14 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwait expressed utter rejection and condemnation of Israel’s raid on the Palestinian Gaza Strip, the Foreign Ministry said.

Israel’s ongoing airstrikes on the Palestinian territory, is a continuation of Israeli crimes against defenceless Palestinians, constituting a flagrant violation of international laws and norms, the ministry said.

This will only lead to more violence and undermine any chance for peace, the statement added.

Kuwaiti government resigns

14 Nov 2019; MEMO: The Kuwait government has submitted its resignation, government spokesman Tariq Al-Mazram announced today.

In a press statement, Al-Mazram said Prime Minister Jaber Al Mubarak Al Sabah submitted the resignation of the government to the Emir Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah “in order to re-arrange the ministerial work”.

The emir still has to accept the resignation in order for it to be final. He would then request a new cabinet to be formed.

Female Kuwait minister who ‘hindered the state’, resigns

13 Nov 2019; MEMO:Kuwait’s Minister of Public Works and Housing Affairs, Janan Boushahri, yesterday announced her resignation as she was being questioned at the country’s National Assembly, official news site KUNA  reported.

“From my rostrum, I announce my resignation because, unfortunately, companies and influential people are stronger than the right,” Boushahri said.

Hundreds protest against corruption in Kuwait

7 Nov 2019; MEMO: Hundreds of protestors gathered yesterday evening in front of Kuwait’s parliament against poor public services and the state’s perceived unwillingness to fight corruption.

Reports suggest that the protest was called by a former lawmaker, Saleh Al-Moulla, who mobilised Kuwaitis on social media under the slogan “That’s enough”. The demonstration was organised with the permission of the authorities.

Preventive diplomacy helps avoid disputes: Kuwaiti FM

KUWAIT CITY, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Preventive diplomacy helps stop the eruption of disputes and conflicts, and enhance dialogue and mediation amongst countries, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Kuwait's deputy prime minister and foreign minister, said on Sunday.

He made the remarks at a ceremony held by the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Representative and Resident Coordinator to Kuwait Tareq Al-Sheikh in Hawalli Governorate.
