PAKISTAN: PM Imran phones Trudeau; urges Canadian support for global debt relief initiative

ISLAMABAD, May 03 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan Sunday held a telephone conversation with his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau and while discussing the COVID-19 situation, thanked Canada for its support for Pakistan’s inclusion in the G20’s debt relief initiative.

Underlining the need to create greater fiscal space for developing countries to save lives, and undertake coordinated action to ward off socioeconomic challenges, the prime minister hoped that Canada would lend support to the ‘Global Initiative for Debt Relief.’

Pakistan rejects Indian allegations of “infiltration attempts”

ISLAMABAD, May 02 (APP): Pakistan on Saturday categorically rejected the baseless Indian allegations of so-called “infiltration attempts” and preposterous claims of targeting of fictional “launch pads.”

“As Pakistan has consistently pointed out, regurgitation of these allegations and spurious claims by India is aimed at diverting the world’s attention from India’s state-terrorism and grave human rights violations in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K),” Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a statement.

PAKISTAN: USCIRF report unmasks ‘democratic, secular face’ of Modi’s India: Shibli

ISLAMABAD, Apr 30 (APP): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz on Thursday said the report of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) had unmasked the so-called democratic and secular face of India before the world.

The minister, in a series of tweets, said the report had exposed the extremist Hindu mindset. The Indian society today had fallen into a deep abyss of division at the hands of Narendra Modi and that reality was being shown by international organizations and the international media.

Pakistani Soldier, Two Civilians Killed In Indian Firing Along LoC

ISLAMABAD, Apr 30 (NNN-APP) – Pakistan’s army said today (Thursday), that, a Pakistani soldier and two civilians were killed, in Indian forces’ firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed Kashmir region.

An army statement said, Indian army “initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation” in Kailer and Rakhchikri sectors, along the LoC.

“In Kailer sector, Indian troops targeted Pakistan army posts with automatic and heavy weapons. Pakistan army responded effectively,” the statement from the army’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations, said.

Death toll of COVID-19 rises to 327 with 14,885 confirmed cases in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, April 29 (Xinhua) -- The death toll of COVID-19 has risen to 327 with 14,885 confirmed cases in Pakistan, according to the data available on the website of the country's health ministry on Wednesday morning.

The figures showed that at least 26 patients died and 806 persons confirmed positive out of 8,530 tests conducted during the last 24 hours across the country.

According to the ministry, overall, 11,133 patients are under treatment in different hospitals while 3,425 have recovered completely, which is 23 percent of the total confirmed cases.

PAKISTAN: Nine terrorists killed in North Waziristan operation

ISLAMABAD, Apr 26 (APP): At least nine terrorists were killed and one was apprehended in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khaisura and Dossali areas of North Waziristan district late Saturday night.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), weapons and ammunition were also recovered in the operation.

Two brave soldiers Lance Naik Abdul Waheed and Sepoy Sakum Dad embraced Shahadat (martyrdom) and five got injured in the exchange of fire with the terrorists during sanitization of the area.

Pakistan's COVID-19 cases cross 10,000 amid leniency in lockdown

ISLAMABAD, April 22 (Xinhua) -- The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has soared to 10,076 in Pakistan with 212 fatalities whereas 2,156 people have recovered from the disease across the country, according to the data released by the health ministry on Wednesday evening.

The country currently has 7,708 active cases whereas the mortality rate of the COVID-19 infected patients is 2.1 percent and recovery rate is 21.4 percent, the official statistics revealed.

Pak: World community can now understand sufferings of Kashmiris after lockdown

ISLAMABAD, Apr 21 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday said demonstrations in various parts of the world were taking place against lockdown and perhaps now international community could understand sufferings of Kashmiris in Occupied Kashmir facing brutal oppression by Indian Forces.

In a tweet message, the prime minister said an inhumane politico-military lockdown was continuing in Indian Occupied Kashmir for over eight months now without any provision of medical, financial, communication or food assistance.

PAKISTAN: Indian Muslims is being targeted to divert backlash of Modi’s COVID-19 policy says PM

ISLAMABAD, Apr 19 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan Sunday said that Narendra Modi’s government was violently targeting the Indian Muslims deliberately to divert the backlash of its policy on COVID-19 pandemic.

In a tweet, the prime minister said the Modi government’s policy on coronavirus had left thousands stranded and hungry.

“The deliberate & violent targeting of Muslims in India by Modi Govt to divert the backlash over its COVID19 policy, which has left thousands stranded & hungry, is akin to what Nazis did to Jews in Germany,” he remarked.
