Pakistan: 82 deaths, 1995 new cases of coronavirus reported in Punjab on Friday

LAHORE, May 07 (APP): As many as 1995 new cases of coronavirus were reported in Punjab on Friday while the pandemic claimed 82 lives in 24 hours which turned the death toll to 8,809.

According to the data shared by the spokesperson of Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD), the number of coronavirus cases in the province reached 314,517.

Pakistani PM To Visit Saudi Arabia

ISLAMABAD, May 6 (NNN-APP) – Pakistani Prime Minister, Imran Khan, is expected to embark on a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia tomorrow, to discuss bilateral cooperation, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan said, today.

At the invitation of Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Khan will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and other members of the cabinet, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Pakistan: COVID-19 claims 161 lives, infects 3,377 more people

ISLAMABAD, May 04 (APP): The national tally on Tuesday of total active COVID-19 cases recorded 86,151 with 3,377 more people tested positive for the deadly virus and 5,018 people recovered from the disease during the last 24 hours.

One hundred and sixty-one corona patients have died during past 24 hours, 140 of whom were under treatment in hospital and 21 out of the hospital in their respective quarantines or homes, according to the latest update issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

Pakistan restricts travel from Iran, Afghanistan

02 May 2021; MEMO: Pakistan on Sunday banned inbound pedestrian movement from neighboring Iran and Afghanistan in an attempt to contain the spread of coronavirus, Anadolu Agency reported.

The decision that will be effective from May 4-20 was taken at a meeting of the National Command and Operation Center, a government agency that deals with the country's anti-virus strategy, in the capital Islamabad with Planning Minister Asad Umar in the chair.

Pakistan’s Critical COVID-19 Patients 57 Percent Higher Than Pandemic Peak Last Year: Official

ISLAMABAD, May 1 (NNN-APP) – The total number of critical patients on ventilators in Pakistan has risen to 5,360, about 57 percent higher than the peak time of the disease in June last year, chairman of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), said.

Despite the spike in the disease and critical cases, the country’s healthcare system managed to cope with the situation by proactively building the capacity of the entire system, from oxygen production to beds, NCOC Chairman, Asad Umar, said yesterday.
