BANGKOK, Oct 10 (NNN-TNA) – Thailand’s Ministry of Labour yesterday issued an announcement in multiple languages, advising Lao, Myanmar and Cambodian migrant workers, to quickly have their work permits renewed before the Oct 31 deadline, or face stiff punishment and be immediately deported back to their countries.

Labour Minister, Suchart Chomklin, said, he has been very lenient on migrant workers, due to concern of rising COVID-19 cases in their countries, adding, Thailand is experiencing a shortage of migrant workers.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand’s parliament voted on Thursday to delay making a decision on whether it will amend the constitution, as demanded by anti-government protesters who have demonstrated nearly every day for more than two months.

The parliament, dominated by supporters of the government, opted instead to set up a committee to study the process of the constitutional amendment first.

“The vote to accept a motion for constitutional changes is effectively delayed to November,” pro-government lawmaker Chinnaworn Boonyakiat told Reuters.

BANGKOK (AP) — A plaque honoring struggles for democracy in Thailand has been removed less than 24 hours after it was installed by anti-government protesters at a historic royal field in the capital.

The plaque had been installed Sunday at Sanam Luang, the field where tens of thousands of people rallied peacefully over the weekend. The two-day demonstration was the largest this year by protesters who are calling for new elections and reform of the monarchy.

BANGKOK, Sept 17 (NNN-TNA) – Three companies of policemen will be deployed from today, in the premises of Thailand’s Government House, as part of the government’s preparations for a student protest at the upcoming weekend, officials said yesterday.

The policemen, from the Metropolitan Police headquarters, are staying on alert inside Government House, for stepped-up security reasons at least until the upcoming Sunday, said officials.

BANGKOK (AP) — Divers have found what they believe is the wreck of a U.S. Navy submarine lost 77 years ago in Southeast Asia, providing a coda to a stirring but little-known tale from World War II.

The divers have sent photos and other evidence from six dives they made from October 2019 to March this year to the United States Naval History and Heritage Command for verification that they have found the USS Grenadier, one of 52 American submarines lost during the conflict.

BANGKOK (AP) — Thailand’s Central Bankruptcy Court on Monday gave the go-ahead to financially ailing Thai Airways International to submit a business reorganization plan and appointed seven planners to oversee it.

A press release from the airline said the plan should be submitted to the court by the end of the year. Then, the company’s receiver will consult creditors for their input before the court approve’s the plan and appoints its administrator in early 2021. The plan will then be implemented.

BANGKOK (AP) — Two soldiers who deserted from Myanmar’s army have testified on video that they were instructed by commanding officers to “shoot all that you see and that you hear” in villages where minority Rohingya Muslims lived, a human rights group said Tuesday.
